Its a great movie franchise
Would recommend to watch it in release order instead of chronological order.
Because thats how the director wants you to experience and that's how we should experience

TBH not many people knew about this masterpiece even till this day it still surpasses other anime in terms of story telling, character designs/development, OST and animation knowing that it was a 15 yr old anime and props to the yellow hoodie Nasu really loves using it

This unlocked some memories I forgot I had; I read a Kara no Kyoukai light novel during my first ever train trip (over 5 hours one). It will forever be entangled with this event in my mind.

A part of me died when he said that Kara no Kyoukai was a Tsukihime spin-off.

Edit: He said Fate was a Tsukihime spinoff, not KnK. Not any better.

Just a quick correction

Kara no Kyoukai is not a Tsukihime spin-off, it's an entirely independent series (the Nasuverse consists of Fate, Tsukihime, and Garden of Sinners)

Also, hell yeah! Garden of Sinners! The root has been recognized, Bois!

It’s not a tsukihime spin off, it’s an unrelated series set in the same world and it was written before tsukihime

For context (this is a testament), Kara no kyokai (KnK) is one of the stories from Typemoon, who is more known for the fate series and Tsukihime. KnK are from a series of light novels that Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi, the founders of Typemoon, wrote and illustrated respectively in the 90s (1998-1999) and the novels are actually older than both Tsukihime (2000) and Fate Stay/Night (2004). More than a spin off, it's a story that occurs (loosely) in the same world of the originals Tsukihime and F/SN (and witch of the holy night). Today KnK is more associate with the Fate franchise because of the Collab with game Fate Grand Order and the secret boss in the game Fate/Extra. Each of the Movies from Ufotable more or less adapts 1 volume of the light novels and they were released in the same order that the light novels where original release. Even 15 years later, the movies still looks better that even current animes and the music... Oh the musis it's just 👌

That's hell you're walking into. The moment you set foot into the nasuverse, you will have to deal with the lore.

kara no kyoukai is not a tsukihime spinoff, it's an movie adaptation for one of the first light novels from the author

Kara no kyoukai was peak, i'm a huge nasu fan but trust me my opinion Isn't biased. His writing and storytelling are crazy good and he can make the is whole narrative universe work flawlessly. Even as his first work kara no kyoukai doesn't disappoint, it creates an absurd aura of suspance mistery and unknown wich makes watching this series a deep dive of emotions. The characters are on another level too, the protagonist shiki ryougi is unique on It's own and you can't help but to love her, mikya kokutou is the perfect match for her as he complements her character, their relationship feels natural and genuine more than many other romantic/romance series. The "side" characters are almost as good, starting from touko wich is the sister of a well known character for us fellow nasuverse enjoyers, there are many more but i don't want to spoil much.
I can't stress this enough, watch it, you will not regret. Alzo if you have enough time and will i reccomend watching all the movies in a row adding also the two extra movies
