Received today at 23:10 UTC is a Cuban spy numbers transmission. Between voice numbers being read out are some kind of digital transmissions.

Received on a WinRADIO G31DDC with a Par End-Fedz SWL antenna.

I wonder if they ever asked Anna montez to decipher the coding? Or if she even would have.

I have heard these Cuban "Numbers Stations" in the past that were comprised with just "endless" sets of five numbers in Spanish--- always on different frequencies each night, but I stumbled upon this particular exact same transmission (voice numbers immediately followed by this "scrambled telemetry" communication) for the past two nights in "the middle of the night" between 1 AM and 2 AM EDT.  I am not sure what the UTC time would be.  The transmission from Cuba was on different frequencies each night on the 25 meter band and the carrier signal was strong (I am in southern Canada), so I believe that the transmission was not aimed for anyone here in the Western Hemisphere, but, at those higher frequencies,  most probably directed at the Russian Federation.  These coded transmissions are government Intelligence at the absolute highest levels.

This is Cuban numbers station that has been given the ID HM01 by the Enigma 2000 group. HM stands for Hybrid Mode, as it combines both voice and digital data. The digital data is in an RDFT mode, and a program such as DIGTRX can be used to demodulate it. Of course the content will still be encoded, but the digital data will have been demodulated into a .txt file.

The strangest thing occurred the other morning at approx. 1:46 a.m. EST with this Cuban Numbers Station.  Normally after the numbers and "scrambled telemetry" finally finishes, the carrier signal continues on for about five minutes before the transmitter is turned off.  The other morning after the "transmission" had finished and the carrier signal continued, music started to play.  It caught me completely off guard as I had never heard that before with the Cuban Numbers Station so I listened closely.  It was a generic "non-Spanish" studio-type instrumental music that did not sound familiar to me.  The music was coming over the same frequency as the carrier signal.  After a couple of minutes of the music, the carrier signal was suddenly turned off.  Any thoughts on this???  Thanks!

I've heard this station before and didn't know what to make of it. I'm in South Central Texas. So is this really a spy station or is that just a cute name for it? ;)
