My parents bought a home in Altadena in 1961. It was a wonderful place to grow up in. I love Altadena and I'm heartbroken for all the residents of Altadena who have lost their homes.
In addition, I'm so sorry to ALL who are affected by the Altadena and Palisades fires.

This was my favorite community i've ever been apart of period. It's beyond tragic. Everyone in this community was friendly supportive and every home had charachter and multi generational. So many of these homes were passed down 2-3 generations often with the mortgages fully paid off and everyone stayed and kept building the community.

This past Mother's Day, I had a strong urge to drive through my old neighborhood, Altadena. My entire family lived in the community since the 1960s. Family members still in the area loss their homes. Never in a million years could I imagine, that Mother's Day would have been my last time seeing my old home town. My heart is so heavy.

My parents bought the first home in Altadena in 1965. They bough their 2nd home in 1973. We left Altadena in 1989. I always wanted to live back in Altadena. It was a such a special place. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to live there. The devastation is so sad. I'm wishing that all will be restored.

This heartfelt story underscores the resilience, unity, and strength of the Altadena community in the face of devastating loss. The courage of Stefan and Arion, along with their determination to rebuild while focusing on family and community, is truly inspiring. Their perspective that “life is about experiences” resonates deeply, highlighting the importance of relationships and memories over material possessions.

Altadena’s legacy as a historically significant and inclusive community is evident in how its diverse residents are rallying together in solidarity. The emphasis on the people rather than the buildings as the heart of the community is a powerful reminder of what truly makes a neighborhood thrive.

As we witness stories like this, it’s crucial to amplify support for families like Stefan and Arion’s, who are navigating such challenges with grace and determination. The spirit of Altadena is not only a testament to its historical significance but also a beacon of hope for what’s possible when communities come together to rebuild stronger than ever.

We stand with Altadena and its incredible residents as they move forward, proving that no matter the struggle, unity and hope can carry us through.

"Life takes us where we're supposed to go." Wow. What great faith. The resilience and strength of this couple says so much about the spirit of unity in this community! I had never heard of Altadena. We are praying from NC for your community and LA. You shall rebuild. #LALives#Altadena

Jim Crow segregation was not only in the South. It was also in California with Sundown laws.
