What a cathartic acknowledgement of the end of a relationship. My divorce just finalized and this song hit me like a truck. There are always the broken promises that prickle your brain from time to time and make you angry that the person you used to love couldn't live up to what they said. But every day, you let that go more and more until you are finally free for good. You'll wake up one day and look in the mirror at a person who has survived deep rejection and pain and embrace that's you. As a piece of art, I love this song: for me it makes me realise that we keep repeating traditions passed on to us that we don’t even question if they are right for us. The next thing we commit ourselves to people who have no real aim or goal to sacrifice on their part to make us work. Then you realise, wow, I better be selfish here or I’ll be left in the dust.
