Bigger Engine.

- Turn on subtitles/CC's if you'd like explanations on what I'm doing throughout the video.
- I've had a 460/C6 sitting in the corner of my garage for a few months now. It came from a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis featured in an older video of mine, One Last Ride. At the time, the engine had been sitting for a while and was almost seized, but it fired up and ran full throttle doing donuts in the middle of a field. Now, it's time to re-home that engine. It's replacing the 302 in my 1974 Gran Torino. While I may eventually hop up the 460 engine, it's going in mostly stock with the exception of a straight-up timing set, long tube headers, and a 750 Holley carburetor. This is the first time I've felt this engine perform on pavement and despite being a low compression, de-tuned big block, its performance has exceeded my expectations. Fighting to get traction, it runs 0-60mph 5 seconds quicker than with the 302. I'd like to add a limited slip 9 inch rear to this equation next, then maybe go back into the motor with an aluminum intake and a camshaft, maybe even some higher compression iron heads.

76 year old retired mechanic here. Enjoying watching every minute of it. No endless blabbering, no stupid background music, just the beautiful sounds of great work and tools moving through the job. Thanks for sharing, my friend. Cheers.

To everyone who noticed, I do realize my mistake that a 460 is a 7.5 liter, not a 7.3 liter. Thanks everyone for watching and happy holidays.

Lighting, framing, composition, selective focus, forced perspective, story telling, and a fearless mechanic. There is simply nothing that come close to this on YouTube. Thank you, Simon.

To heck with computers & screens. Glory to the old beasts of vehicles that can still run and drive with straight up mechanical skills and fixes.
Thank you Simon for the therapy videos

You've really captured the most iconic moments of wrenching. Even the humble first run without a hood, the attempts to resurrect the carb and final replacement to keep the project moving, and the real absolute truth of pulling saved parts outta the bin and using them. Returning to the house via a single headlight also gets the mood right hahaha Thanks for putting this to film.

You never cease to amaze me. Someone as young as you being such a skilled old-school all-around mechanic is absolutely incredible. Each video is a master class in restoration.

I am a chef who used to be an auto mechanic in South Korea. I'm so jealous that you have a garage. Since Koreans generally live in apartments, most do not have garages. I enjoyed the video!

I didn’t want the 2 hour movie to end. Wonderful way to spend a cold evening. The number of 2 hour YouTube videos that I watch on OTHER channels is close to zero. Simon, you’re my favorite channel. Others aren’t close. Many thanks!

I’m thinking of watching this again with popcorn. Reminds me of my dad tearing down a LTD, a Chevelle and a Chevy II Wagon with three on the column. He worked quiet like this. I had no idea what the hell he was doing but marveled at it. I’m in the same boat now and respect the craft. Awesome story telling!
