Can TINY swimbaits catch BIG bass? You better believe it! Learning how to use small swimbaits as part of your finesse fishing arsenal is a key to consistent success during the ever-changing Spring fishing season. With rain storms, flood waters, and cold snaps, Spring brings a lot of challenges for bass fishing but if you know how to turn to the finesse swimbait, a lot of the struggle can be avoided.

In recent years the market has been flooded with tiny swimbaits. Every brand makes one and many brands make 2 or 3. How do you know which baits are worth your time? In today's video we narrow it down to a few select baits. These are the baits that are consistent producers and that provide unique actions you won't find in most of the swimbaits on the market.

Knowing exactly which swimbait to throw on a given day will require some practice but remember that the softer the bait, the more likely it will continue to kick well in cold water. The harder the bait, the more likely it will provide a strong vibration in warm water. Below is a breakdown of the heads, baits, and colors that we use when we're finesse swimbait fishing.

The heads...

The baits...
(Pro Blue Red Pearl, Electric Shad, Chart/Blue)
(PB Red, Shamrock Shad, Silverside)
(Tennessee Shad, 210, 309)
(Purple Haze, Royal Gill, Silver Shad)
(Donko, Haze, Wakasagi)

Alternate Colors To Try... Chartreuse/Blue, Morning Dawn (Pink), All White, Yellow.

I bet that "Dark Sleeper" would slam huge picky brown trout as well, cause a goby and a sculpin look so very similar. In the Norfork and White rivers in Arkansas, we use sculpin and sculpin imitations quite a bit. Some of those smart giant browns, it seems that's all they eat, just like some big bass with trout.
Anyhow, thanks for the videos man, I enjoy watching your stuff. Alot of your California tactics work well in Bull Shoals Lake.

Always give a finesse swimbait a chunk when things get tough... Our prespawn Smallmouth bite gets downright stupid on swimbaits, and it’s about to go down ~

What colour d-walker paddle tail was swimming at 8:49? Is that the PB red or the silverside?

What size bare jig head would you recommend for the D-Walker 120. Would you still prefer the bare jig head over an underpin. If you do use a flashy swimmer what size would be best for the same bait. Thank you guys for the videos and all the great help. Hope you both and your family's are staying safe and health. God Bless

lol i think you guys should have your own tab on tacklewarehouse.com where you guys can just through a bait on the tab whenever you review it and have it set by video or something that why you dont have to link everybait in description it can just be a single link. might take longer for info to be updated though....

Me and my brother in law used the Megabass Dark Sleeper the whole time in 2019 and slammed bass with these lures.
You gotta buy them. This is an awesome lure and worth it!

Yesterday I got my new PB! My previous PB bass was 5.07lb, caught on January 2002. Yesterday I caught a 6.24lb bass! A giant northern strain bass here in Portugal. Caught it on the best looking spot on that lake (a secondary point that has deeper water near the bank than all the main lake points on that lake (I can reach 30ft deep areas on a long cast from the bank) and it has huge boulders, smaller rocks and some weeds near the bank). It bit an 8" Savage Gear Glide Swimmer. It was my first fish on an 8" glide! I worked it with the retrieve I learned from you: a few reel handle turns and then twitch twitch, but I do it slower in the cold months, I also twitch using only quick half or quarter reel handle turns and I pause for 2 or 3 seconds after the twitches. After the pause I started to reel again and it felt like some weeds, but I wasn't sure, and I see people saying many big fish bites on glide baits are subtle, so I set the hook... And then, the weeds started to move! lol I learned a lot of things with many people, and you Matt and Tim are certainly two of the more important because I always learn a lot from your videos. Thank you! PS: I like all your videos, but I still prefer the videos focusing on trophy fish and big swimbaits and jigs. Hope you make a long video about fishing for trophy bass, like those long seminar videos you did in the International Sportsman's Exposition.

I noticed the offset blades on the mega bass, it gives off a nice wobble and distress, I'm.loving those, use them when I can't use spybait 👍

Well done Mr. Allen. One of the reasons I enjoy your videos, beyond you and your associates honest passion for the sport is the layers of information-often subtle that leads to greater insight and enjoyment on the water. Keep up the good work.
