God I wish I'd learned switch right away! For whatever reason I procrastinated, .. thought it was too above my skill. Waited my whole skateboarding career in my youth.
I'm back at it now, and I'm prioritizing learning switch. 42 years old this summer and I'm landing 2 out of 5 switch flip. They're looking better than my regular kickflip 👍🏽

I always sucked at nollies, but now they feel just fine. My breakthrough was learning them on a snowboard. One season about 10 years ago or so i decided to try them on snow and found that after a few sessions i was able to effectively translate it back to skating, i just stepped on my board and they were no big deal. I'd suggest if you've got a snowboard, strap it on and practice on carpet popping nollies and get a feel for loading up the nose of the board and popping. For me it made skate nollies a lot easier and i was finally able to actually nollie up and over stuff, into grinds, slides, and manuals, and even nollie heelfips were no big deal on a skateboard after practicing/parkriding on snow.

Someone told me once that to do a trick in switch you have to just try and mirror the way you do the trick normally. which sounds really simple but t does work. sort of focus doing the trick normally and just try it switch. it helped me with some tricks for sure.

One thing that really helped me when learning nollies is to jump diagonnaly in the opposite direction that you re rolling to
Btw gr8 vid when it comes to skate content i always watch your channel since you provide us with really nice info whether it is about being vegan or getting better at skateboarding
I would really appreciate some more videos like the "shit hipster skaters say" but that weekly content is just on point

Also if you get fakie ollies down it means you can switch nollie, if you can switch nollie you now have the mechanics for nollies as a reference. It won’t help you in anyway do a nollie in your usual stance but at least now you can see how nollies work on your own feet.

Edit. Steezy nollies btw and great tutorial, subbed.

Definitely helps to use the trainers first before the roll

I've been trying to figure out whether to put my front door on the tip or keep it in the pocket. This helped a lot thanks. Also I think I nudge the nose forward a little to get that extra opposing movement against my sliding foot.

Watched the Braille video on nollies and couldn't even pop my board. The second I saw your downward camera angle with your front ankle rolling I landed it first try. I'm only coming to this channel for trick tips from now on. Braille is extremely overrated for trick tips imo

Skate Hacks love the channel bro! And the whole time I been nollies wrong. I thought if I was rolling fakie and pop off my front foot, regular footed. That six but thank you

Hey man I love your videos please keep it up these are someof the best trick tips on Youtube!

I have a question for you... I'm a vegan skater and am having the hardest time finding Vegan shoes, I like a somewhat bulky shoe and have found the Etnies Jameson to be the closest thing to sturdy shoe, what are you riding here? and do you have any other recomendations? cheers
