2018 Space City Explorer Challenge | Houston Police Department

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and HPD commanders launched the 2018 Space City Explorer Challenge.
Approximately 30 Explorer teams from across the region participated in the day-long competition, held at the Houston Police Academy. Teams were judged on how they performed in a number of scenarios, and participated in other challenges and activities.
Houston Police Explorers is open to young men and women ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation.
