That we use instruments to observe is not abandoning senses in favor of measurement. Rather, it is enhancing the capability of our senses in order to observe what we couldn’t observe without the instrumentation... and then measure what our senses experience through those instruments.

Isn't science mixed? What about theory, scientific theories are rationalist, but we check the validity of the fundamental assumptions empirically, emerging properties then mathematically pop-up without experiments. If you empirically check you have boxes of size lower to 3×3×3 and a room of size at least 9×9×9, you need no additional experiment to know you can fit at least 27 boxes in the room.
