Here is a quick little breakdown on sling angles, in case you didn't know.

If you have 2 slings legs and they are both verticle, they are picking up exactly half the weight of your load. BUT, if your slings are at an angle, they are now picking up more than half the weight of your load, and you need to add a multiplier to measure the amount of tension in your sling legs. Here is a breakdown of how you can measure the amount of tension applied to each sling leg.

60° angle = (Weight of load ÷ 2) 1.155 = Sling Tension
45° angle = (Weight of load ÷ 2) 1.414 = Sling Tension
30° angle = (Weight of load ÷ 2) 2 = Sling Tension

If you want to truly be accurate and avoid any miscalculations or accidents, you should be using load cells. Load cells or dynamometers will accurately measure the amount of tension you are putting on your slings.

We will take an in-depth look at the Crosby Striaghtpoint Radiolink Plus and BlueLink loadcells on Thursday this week!. Be sure to watch the full video!
