Slow duals, reprints of painlands and crowd lands are the best things that happened to EDH in recent times

Tango lands are to this day some of my favorite lands, especially if you have a lot of basics in your deck. Having two basics in play make them enter untapped AND they have both landtypes. Too bad we only have 5 of them and not all 10.
The lairs are also nice for decks with more than two colors and the signet lands are good budget duals, same with the Kamigawa exert lands, if you can stomach the occasional hardcore downside for using colored mana.
(the one-of-a-kind Nimbus Maze would make for an amazing land cycle too, but it's only in azorius)

I think that the Snarl cycle should be an honorary mention as I believe that they are quite decent, especially in your opening hand when you should definitely be able to have them come in untapped.

Fetches are so bunkers they made Prismatic Vista and Fabled Passage into a playable card.

Heck even Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse.

I personally love scry lands over most of these. Being able to bottom a card you don't need is so good especially in commander.

I'm missing the bicycle lands. I'd play them above the check lands (I don't run a lot of basics anymore).I like the fast lands over slow these days as the curve is at 3/4 mana. entering tapped is less of a problem after t3. Further the filter lands needs to be above the tricycle lands. I even play the snow duals as a 3rd fetch target in enemy colors where bicycle lands are not an option

Painlands are better than slow duals in my opinion. I even think checklands are also slightly better on average but I could probably be convinced either way on those two.

There’s no reason why the land types can’t be rares or uncommons in all sets. Not just bs rare slots in “premium” sets for the whales

Personally MDFC lands have proven to out preform check lands in all my decks. Checks are too unreliable. In 3 color or more decks they usually are just a guildgate.

imagine fetches wouldn't exist. at first you think that that would make landbase just a bit worse but brainstorm, the corner piece of legacy, is a terrible card that coincidentally is insane if you have a free way to shuffle your library. so that one change would warp an entire format probably.
