We often get accused of being "fake" or "not really paralyzed" because we can move our legs - but the answer isn't that simple - having an incomplete spinal cord injury comes with its own host of unique challenges - one of them being - how do we exercise our legs!? In today's video Maria and I show you how to workout your legs if you have an incomplete spinal cord injury.

There are also many wheelchair users who can move their legs (halfway) in a targeted manner, but lack the stamina to take more than two or three steps. For example with 'multiple sclerosis'.

I use a powerchair as I have problems with balance and control of my hands. I can walk with crutches but only very short distances. A lot of people are surprised when I stand up, but the powerchair has made my life so much easier and increased my independence.

This strikes me so weird that people would do this... bc everyone should know that each mobility challenged person has different mobility needs. 🤷

Fibromyalgia and Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis are a helluva dance. Spinal arthritis, old military injuries are playing in the band. Movement is key. But I’m currently transitioning to a wheelchair for a lot more activities. I have a power wheelchair but it’s big and cumbersome. A good lightweight manual chair will challenge me.

LOL, I have never heard this, but I have Cauda Equina (feet are no bueno, hairless, numb and nearly useless) and 3 burst disks, so Yay ! Chronic pain (6 to 7 most days)...so I use my Permobil, plank when I have to and tilt back, again when I have to...I just wish I could trust ? not feeling the floor and not expecting to faceplant if I EVAR try to take more than a step. But like U both said, everybody's injury is DIFFERENT.

The thing that I didn't like when I first watched this guy was he was giving advice to handicapped people in a wheelchair without giving them the details of where and exactly what his disability level was. It's just my opinion he should have told what's his level of disability was when he started because he has no idea what a T6 or a T7 paralyzed person goes through trying to wheel, transfer, or trying to get off the floor. I would love to be able to stand just once the way he does. That's why I think if people are going to make videos that are paralyzed they should say what level they're paralyzed at so some of the paralyzed peoplel can relate better instead of wondering, "why can't I do that".
