Counters representing negative and positive numbers can help us understand how to find the product of negative integers. We review the rules for products of positive and negative numbers. We show how to find the product of a negative multiplied by a negative by modeling its opposite with counters, a positive multiplied by a negative. Then, we make a model using the opposite color counters. We show patterns in multiplication equations. We explain how English can relate to math with double negatives.
