the cleaning rod really made me proud I have struggled so much with led jam. I genuinely felt happy just hearing that.

On Amazon Prime Day 2022, I purchased the Rotring 800 .5mm Pencil for $24.99. It was the only real Rotring deal I could find.

It's on my list, haven't gotten them yet - I'm using pens mostly right now but next year I'm writing something big entirely in pencil and want those!

Super satisfied with my 600, kept the little case they sent it in to keep it safe

Getting an 800 made me appreciate my 600 even more. Not a bad tool, was just expecting more for the price. Extending the lead feels way nicer on the cheaper 600

I bought my first rotring about 5 years ago it was randomly on sale i knew nothing about pens and pencils it just had good reviews so I purchased it. 5 years later I’m obsessed with this brand and only use rotring . I own every color way in the 600 and 800 and even got the limited edition Japan models too haha 😂. The only thing that bugs me about the 800 is that the twist mechanism begins to rattle and loosen after some time.

Have a replacement tip for my .7mm on its way. Took me a year to finally drop and bend...🤬

Absolutely love the Rotring pencils!

5:21 interesting... Back when I was elementary school, we just use lead and insert it from the tip. It works.

1. Years ago I bought a 600, which I love and use daily. I have in fact dropped it three times directly on the tip, which I did my best to straighten. Not perfect, but it works fine. So though the 800's retractable tip looks like a pointless gimmick, I can state that there is a valid use case. Once I drop it enough to break it, I will replace it with another 600. I just don't like the useful gimmick of the 800.
2. For me the spinning lead grade indicator is a useless gimmick, as in regular use it doesn't stay in place.

A bent 600 pipe can be repaired by removing the pipe and grinding the remaining tip to a point. The tip is brass & once ground hold up well. Less expensive than buying a replacement and, in the end, more durable than the original pipe. I have a 90's version and have used the customized pencil now for over 20-years.

Did you know that there is a mechanical pencil from Rotring Company called Rapid Pro?

It has 2 legendary characteristics, which were

She was ahead of her time. The nib comes out mechanically, or the pen lengthens the nib without pressing the pen from the back - just pressing the pen while writing, the nib comes out automatically. Secondly, the Chubb feature is the nib protection feature that is present in the Zebra pencil called Dell Guard to protect the lead from broken .

Have you used the Ohto Super Promecha? Do you feel the rotring is better than that?

Does the twist on the 800 add any additional wobble to the tip vs the set tip of the 600?

Do you know if the knurled grip is plated brass or some other metal?

Extending lead is nicer on 600. But you can’t put it in your pocket. You’d have to toss it if drops off your desk. It’s 800 all the way for me.

Is the rotring 800 already developed the tips more stable ?
