Lovely little spar with Fred.
There aren't many Sword and Buckler practitioners in my area, so it was great to try out all of the i33 techniques I've been reading up on and drilling.

The Halpschilt is one of my go-to attacking movements, it's fairly low risk and a good entry point for a lot of follow-up techniques.

I then move into a variation of left-cover, I actually leave the buckler on my left-hand side, whereas the manuals show this being on the right when in actual left cover... but ahh well, in this case it worked as I parried off Fred's return attack. Let's refer to this as a sloppy Left cover for now.

From the sloppy left cover position I was able to land a clean strike to his torso. Due to the close range we were now in, it was easy to bypass his outstretched buckler.

After scoring a hit, my next concern was getting out of there! So I retreated into the First Custodia as this is my current favourite guard position and I drill it the most.

Sword and Buckler is by no means Fred's usual main weapon, he's a Heater shield kind of guy. Some of his shield behaviours came into play here which was to be expected. Not so surprisingly they still worked a treat!
