Congrats, son. I never had the juevos to start my own business of any type; was always afraid of failure. I'm retired now so any attempt went out the door long ago. You'll be cruising the Caribbean Islands one day while I'm still shopping at Walmart and thrift stores. Mom and dad raised a good son. Hats off and proud of ya. I'm smiling ear to ear for you!

Bro don't ever be embarrassed about trying to be successful, starting out with what you have is better then not starting at all! Keep up the great work and good luck to you!!!

Any businessman will tell you if you price like the competition you won't make money. Yes, you have to be reasonable for your local market but YOUR price should reflect your salary, cover your overhead, and make a profit for growth. Set minimum prices and stick with them and know your worth!

For Example, $199 (minimum) + $20 dump fee (if that's what you know the dump will charge you) = $219 + tax if applicable. If you have to make another trip to the dump you charge it. Never let dump fees eat into your profits!

Your trailer size should only dictate your dump fee (bigger trailer = bigger fees). If you have appliances make sure you charge the fee the dump charges you for it plus an additional $20 EACH as they are specialty items.

Don't worry about what others think of you or your trailer size. You have to start somewhere. Remember, Amazon started in a garage.

Keep grinding!!

I do landscaping full-time and currently have a dump trailer with my subcompact tractor. This video just gave me a huge motivation to get into junk removal. Thank you

If you’re starting let me help you on how to charge. First Don’t include your dump fee in your labor cost. Also you should always add a trip charge to your hourly cost. For me it’s a minimum of $30. So if I said okay my hourly rate is $120. I can clean this up in 1 hour then it will take roughly 30min to unload and get through the dump. My quote would have been $210+50 dump fee. If you know your dump and you know about the rate per weight and we see this dump fee was $20 then you charge the customer $50. This leaves room in case they see something you missed and that material raises your cost to dump. So this job should have cost him $260 minimum. I get trying to get your name out there but working for cheap isn’t going to pay the bills. Your time is worth something not including wear and tear and fuel. The price is what it is. So don’t try to under cut the competition to much. I’m going to look and the channel and see where the kid is today since this was 2 years ago. Good luck!

You don’t want to build he business by being cheep or cheeping the competition. The shift from employee to business owner is a challenge for most. Most people think paycheck for hours spent working. That’s the way employees think. The way that works for me is always look at the big picture. Speaking of pictures, with any self employed entrepreneur, showing your customers pictures of before and after of other jobs creates value in the mind of the customers so they can see they get what they paid for.

Nice job. I got a free 19 foot camper trailer from a buddy of mine and free wood too. I made a huge utility trailer out of it and so far it’s holding up great, at some point I want to add angle iron sides instead of wood. This trailer is massive, it’s so big you could land a jet inside lol I always say it’s best to have a trailer and not need it then need it and not have it. Since the hurricanes have hit down here in Florida I’ve been getting coworkers hitting me up every week, as long as they are paying I’m doing the job asap.

I've been trying to get my own thing going recently...it hasn't gone great. I feel a bit beaten down today. But this video made me feel better because you mention multiple times how you're unsure of a certain thing or how you're just gonna watch the guy infront of you to understand where to go or what to do. That's fucking inspiring as fuck, man. I know this was 9 months ago but you really did just go for it. Fuck....this is good content, brother.
