This story of lost tech is kind of an insult to the craftsmen and women who created these things. To look at these beautiful works of art and insist it must be lost technology is an insult to the intelligence, vision, devotion, and endurance of our ancestors. This is to say nothing of the complete absence of any of this technology either culturally or physically in the fossil record. Losing this level of technology would be more convincing if we didn't still end up inheriting a great deal of technology from our ancestors. It's honestly strange to do this amount of guesswork while not bothering to study any of the answers we already have for how these were made, answers which are freely available and cite evidence - but then I suppose its far far easier to just make up the answers and claim that you've solved an ancient riddle and know more than people who've devoted their lives to studying these things. This is what happens when you make your ability alone the measure of what is possible. You assume that because you could not do it that its simply not possible.

My belief is that: Various ancient civilizations peaked in various arts and technologies. Natural disasters and wars always destroy the knowledge. In our time, we have peaked in 'computing', a very niche field. And we seem to be approaching our 'apocalypse' point soon too.
