Ban Wall Street, etc., from residential rentals. Or tax them massively.

it forces people to be renters so they can charge even more exorbitant rents and put even more people that can't afford it out on the street. how long are we going to continue accepting this behavior before we do something about it? 😡

Can we ever recover from this rampant greed?

This is by design, as Prof Michael Hudson points out, the idea is for no one to own a home but the billionaires and everyone will end up renting from them. Combine that with healthcare/insurance tied to your job and then they own you, you work for what they are willing to pay you with whatever conditions they allow or you are on the street, they have a captive workforce.

Change the tax advantages/status for owners of more than two residential rental homes.

I had a congressman approach me in Waikiki and asked me what I think of same sex marriage, i replied, I could give a rats as what people do, it’s their business. I pointed to a group of homeless living by the Ala Wai canal, why don’t you do something about the homeless, look over there. Clueless politicians.this was around 10 years ago and now it has exploded. Very sad and depressing, especially to see local and Hawaiians living in tents

No solution. Some societies are dysfunctional. On the way out, please avoid destroying the world.

First time buyers should be prioritized over investors, anyone making rental homes there only income should be taxed to the hills

It’s not just Wall St. It’s any and every foreign and domestic investor with the money to pay cash and outbid the other guy to get their hands on that easy, lucrative, passive rental income.
Along with every wealthy parent that needs to house their kids.

Great content Thom, thanks. What can we do about this?

The march of global capitalism continues and our participation continues in spite of our objections . Fighting for incremental reforms seems weak . We need a revolution that could happen if the working class recognizes the ruling class as our enemies instead of each other.

I'm frustrated. after I graduated high school I went to a trade school for transportation. Even after getting education after high school I was still only making $9 an hour as a ramp agent at the local airport. This economy is unreasonable.

Capital at work should be taxed the same way human at work is. Stock and currency trades should have a tobin tax (that is 0.00x% of each trade is tax) as a minimum.

Too many poor people? Charge them with petty drug crimes and house them for profit. This isn’t new.

*If Inflation were fair to Paychecks, Minimum Wage would be about $40 bucks an hour.*
The math is in Gold and Hamburgers. Both of these items since 1967 have increased by about 600%.... if 'Minimum Wage' had done the same that's approx. $40 bucks.

Even middle-class income earners frequently cannot buy a house. I make a pretty decent wage... just shy of $70k a month... however, I and my wife cannot buy a house in the regions surrounding Seattle as the average home list-price is about $450, 000. To add to the problem, the average house is selling for 20% to 30% over the asking price.
