Vikings fan here. Needed a refresher going into this weekend. Great job breaking down the X’s and O’s!

I've always been a fan of the 3-4. It seems the 3-4 has confused some of the smartest QBs and O.Cs known. But personnel is a HUGE part of your success. We had Ware and Spencer which helped a lot. Not to mention Ratliff

I like it better when the center picks out the Mike. Let the blockers worry about the blocking assignments and let the QB worry about throwing the ball.

I love a 4-3, but I don't mind playing a 3-4 either. We can play both with the defensive players we have👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🔥🥃

Great breakdown. I think the 4-3 is better than the 3-4 because the former focuses on stopping the run & you can get a good pass rush from the 4-3, the 3-4 you won't get much of a pass rush from it in my opinion

What needs to be explained is the difference between 2gap defense & 1gap defense!! You can run a 1gap 3-4 defense where you can have your 3 down lineman just shoot the gap like Wade Phillips defense when we had Jay Ratliff line up as a NT but when ball is snapped he was a 3tech

I think if a DC or head coach run a multiple defense format that runs both types, that would give offenses an ulcer. But unfortunately I heard it really tough to do that and maintain it.

I still don't understand the 4-3 and it makes no sense to me. But I totally understand the 3-4 defense because it helped my past team the New York Giants get to and win 🏆 Super 🏈 Bowls.

The 4-3 is a better defense then the 3-4.. as at the LOS, you pit four defensive linemen against 5 offensive linemen, which means even if the offense double teams 1 defensive lineman, you still have 3 defensive linemen who are 1 on 1 with a far better chance of getting to the QB.. all the best defenses over time have all been 4-3 or some version of it, even the bears defense, also known as a 46 defense the 4 is 4 down linemen and 6 backs at or near the line of scrimmage with one middle safety back.. but its base is still 4-3.. 4 down linemen and 3 linebackers.. you simply walk the strong safety up to the line of scrimmage, often over the TE.. its the alignment which is a bit different.. where the 4 down linemen are from over the guard, over the center, over the guard, over the tackle.. man on man, and nobody over usually the right offensive tackle.. they place the LOLB over that tackle and walk the strong safety up to the line as well outside that LOLB to cover the TE.. and that is the alignment.. and it forces for the most part, 4 down linemen one on one with the offensive line.. but back to the best defenses from history, all being 4-3, were so named as well, like the Purple People eaters, 4-3, the Fearsome Foursome, again because it was 4 down linemen.. a 4-3 defense.. the No Name defense, 4-3, The Bears defense, which I just went over.. Seattle's defense legion of doom.. 4-3.. The Steel Curtain.. 4-3.. Sacksonville, 4-3.. the Orange Crush back in the day.. 4-3.. all the best defenses all throughout time have all been 4-3..period..
