Bushcraft Bucksaw - an easy DIY wilderness hand saw

Whether you're just getting into bushcraft and survival, or you're an old sage, a good handsaw is indispensable in the wilderness. From survival shelter building and cutting fire wood to light weight backpacking, a good saw's usefulness is undisputable. In this week's video I'll show you how to build an easy DIY bushcraft bucksaw using just a Leatherman multitool and basic bucksaw blade. Bucksaws are great because all you really need is the light weight and flexible saw blade. The rest can be built on sight with natural materials found in the forest. The sawblade can be rolled up and stored in a tin cup or bugout bag. Taking an hour or so to build a bucksaw will make shelter building go much faster. This is a great bushcraft project for beginners.

Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

This type of hand saw is very typical for Bulgaria. My grandfather and father used one. Very simple and reliable. Thanks for the great videos!

Well that's bloody annoying, the bucksaw you throw together in the woods looks better then the one I made in my workshop 😅

Well easy to make if ypu have a saw blade handy not against this saw its great craftsmanship as always just quite hard to get to in the wild with almost nothing on you like there would be in a survival situation

Clay, you definitely need to use work gloves when doing these things. It's my experience that doing any sustained sawing or cutting with a multitool is a quick way to blisters.

To save the lock of your folding knife(especially liner locks or weak locks) try batting with the knife not locked in a 7 or L shape. When the knife is not locked the shock is less on the knife.

I keep hoping someone will design a bowsaw blade that can literally roll up into a tobacco can, so carrying this style of saw gets even easier. Maybe two halves that link up somehow?

I haven't found any of the cable or chain-style flexible saws that work well enough to be considered They are nifty, but not really credible, durable tools like a folding saw or bowsaw/bucksaw is.

Another great video, Clay, thanks.

Some clip ring pins be good for the blade pins

I think that if you cobbled together a lashed on handle for the saw blade it may have been a little quicker. Nice work all the same.
