It’s a beautiful thing when someone can be pulled to all corners of the world, and they take with them the people who helped them to be the person they’ve become.

I have been trying to go further back on my paternal grandmother’s side, but the lines that go into Canada are not well documented when I try and find stuff before the census of 1871. Two of my third great-grandfathers were from Canada—one in Ontario, one in New Brunswick—but I can find little that is definitive about their parents. I did find one city directory entry from St. John, NB, in 1874 for my 3GGF William Ogden that includes “Jr., ” which gives me that his father’s name must also be William Ogden, but that’s all I know about him. The Ontario 3GGF Stephen Humphrey had a few mentions in the local newspaper that had his father’s name Hiram, and I found Hiram’s death notice that gave me his age at death, but again, that’s all I know about him. Very frustrating, especially since the US records are more complete for that time period of the early 19th century.

After years of research I’ve tracked my UK lineage back to the Bretons and William I, and, being an avid watcher of this on the BBC, I’m hoping to see more of this side of the Atlantic 👍🏼

Rachel and Cillian Murphy were splendid together in Red Eye. I live in Birmingham England (the town featured in Peaky Blinders) but I know Cillian for Red Eye, with the lovely Rachel 😊

Think my wife is related to them. She comes from Plymouth with family that were in the navy with the same name. Also connections in Polperro in Cornwall. Also found family in Scotland and Canada, Very small world ❤

It's easy to tell from their mom's photo that he wasn't a pilot. He's not wearing pilot wings on his uniform. And he's a corporal - no pilots held that rank in the RAF - and still don't to this day.
