Actually, Blackbeard is a former member of Whitebeard's Pirate, but he killed his crewmate and stole the Yami Yami no Mi. During the Marineford War, he killed his former captain, Whitebeard, and somehow stole the Gura Gura no Mi. He became a Warlord of the Sea after that, but it was abolished, and currently he's a Yonko.

For any interested in this even if not big on video games get assasins creed black flag. Alot of the game is historically accurate ( alot isnt also ) but amazing experience overall if you want to sail around as pirate and you even meet black beard and do a couple raids with him.

Something I've always wondered about this part of Blackbeard's story is how would that work? I mean i get weaving the fuses into his beard and all that but wouldn't that also become a problem very quickly since they could and would cause his beard to be lit on fire?

Lee was a former law professor who traced his own ancestry to a possible link with Blackbeard. A native of Kinston, North Carolina, he earned degrees from Wake Forest, Columbia, and Duke universities. The author of sixteen law books, Lee wrote the newspaper column "This is the Law".'
