Pro-Palestine protest at Grand Central Terminal, NYC.

On Monday, December 18, 2023, the organization Within Our Lifetime (WOL) and other organizations held a PROTEST AND GLOBAL STRIKE FOR GAZA AND ALL OF PALESTINE in Manahatta, Lenapehoking (Manhattan, New York City). People held a protest inside Grand Central Terminal. After Grand Central Terminal, people marched to ZARA, New York Times, Starbucks, Port Authority Bus Terminal, Penn Station, Washington Square Park, and other places in Manahatta.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) tried to block Palestine supporters from going inside Grand Central Terminal, BUT, people outsmarted the police and protested inside the terminal. NYPD officers also tried to block protestors from going inside Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station, but people went inside Moynihan Train Hall and Muslims prayed for Gaza and all of Palestine. People protested outside the friends of the IDF fundraiser organized by DKNY’s Donna Karan at 705 Greenwich. The protest lasted for about 9 hours in total.

It was not until this year where not only have police attempted to close off these train stations to protesters, they have actively blocked off and discriminated against people going into these stations after Palestine protests. On multiple occasions they shut the entire station down. Other times they were letting people in as long as they weren’t visibly Arab/Muslim/Pro-Palestinian even after protests have ended. Several WOL members have been blocked from entering grand central after actions who are just going home. We will not stand or settle for this discrimination and we will not cede access to a public space to make our message loud and clear: we demand nothing less than an end to not only the bombing of Gaza, but an end the siege and blockade, U.S. aid to Israel, and an end to the occupation and colonization of Palestine.”_Nerdeen Kiswani

December 19, 2023 was day 74 since Israel started bombing Gaza (Israel bombed Gaza before October 7, 2023, as well). The 75 years of occupation of Palestine MUST END NOW!

On December 12, 2023, the 193-member United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution passed with 153 countries voting in favor, 23 abstaining and 10 countries voting against, including Israel and the United States.

The resolution is non-binding. Israel (with the help of Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, democrat and republican politicians) will keep bombing Gaza.

Before New York City, there was Lenapehoking, the ancestral land of the Lenape people. Forcibly displaced by White European invaders, their land was stolen to create settler states.

Lenapehoking (Unami: Lënapehòkink) is widely translated as 'homelands of the Lenape'. The territory of the Lenape people before White Europeans invaders arrived was known to them as Lenapehoking, and it covered roughly the area between New York City and Philadelphia, including all of New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and part of the state of Delaware.
