The Porsche Taycan sets new Nürburgring record

Demonstrating its potential on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S – fitted with the performance kit from Tequipment and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) – sets a brand new record for an electric series production vehicle. Porsche development driver Lars Kern took just seven minutes 33 seconds to clock in a full lap in the electric vehicle. Jump onboard.

Porsche beats the competition even with less horse power once again. That's because it's all about acceleration on a boring straight line for some not understanding that the real fun is driving fast through corners. First electric Porsche production car build especially for race tracks will be insane. Taycan is pretty much a "calm" Porsche after all.

Gentlemen, what you are witnessing is a culmination of over 80 years of pedigreed racing heritage, coupled with an automobile manufacturer's supreme ability at martialling it's human technical and engineering resources in record time to create a car that less than ten years ago was all but impossible to bring to market. I think there's another word that describes the phenomena: passion. And it's passion that has helped to keep Porsche ahead of some of the most aggressive and talented competition in the industry. Congrats to Porsche AG!
Of course, I certainly doesn't hurt that Lars Kern was behind the wheel; someone who knows the ring better than I know my own driveway...

Incredible that just some setup changes and a bit more acceleration is enough to beat a car that has significantly better power to weight ratio. On tyres that are similar in class too since P Zero Corsas can pretty much just rival PS4S and not Cup 2

It's doing a bloody rapid 7:33 around the Nordschleife and still looks and feels way too boring without all the sounds a car needs to make.

Making it a more lightweight and stronger 2-speed gearbox and that would make her scream!

Great driving, you can tell the Taycan is nose heavy with lots of understeer especially on corner entry, the driver matches that with awesome braking application.
