it’s a shame the rings counter is tied to sonic’s sprite and not the UI because of how the graphics mod was set up, same with luigi and tails’ intro animations. you did a good job though

I feel like playing as Sonic could potentially be a harder mode for the game where once you get a miss with rings you lose all of them and if you miss again then you die instead of surviving off of power-ups.

Love how sonic and mario genuinely look like they're enemies, and then luigi and tails are just jamming

The intro animation for Tails and Luigi is really nice, and fits quite well to the pair's personalities, as both of them are usually both kind and outgoing.

fun fact: in earlier builds of sonic 2 before it was released, tails would make your rings explode if he took damage

This is literally how it should have been i mean in majority of times sonic was the only one able to defeat Super Mario Bros in 90's and he is still unbeatable. Specially in music.

If there's a sonic version of the mod, I bet this song would also be in it just like this. Idk why so many people said they wanna play as sonic during this song in super mario bros funk mix dx. It's a MARIO mod, not a sonic mod. Sonic can make a cameo in it but it doesnt make sense to play as him in a mario centered mod.

This is great, but instead of collecting 2 rings, the second one should be a shield monitor. It would make more sense considering that if sonic really got hit he would lose all his rings.

Mechanic idea: ring notes are strewn throughout the chart, separate of normal notes. Hitting them will increment your ring counter. If you miss a note, your ring counter drops to 0 and a maximum of 30 rings scatter about the screen (less than 30 if you don’t have 30 or more rings). You can mash space to collect a few of the scattered rings. If you miss a note with 0 rings, you die. Tails has a separate ring counter from Sonic, but dying as either of them will result in a game over.
Sonic starts out happy to see a new friend, willing to give the mustachioed plumber a tour of the new age of gaming. Mario, however, is mad at him for stealing his spotlight (unbeknownst to Sonic). Throughout the song, Sonic gets angrier at Mario. Tails and Luigi attempt to calm the recently realized retro rivals down after they realize what’s going on.
