Live in Eastern NC. Soil on the sandy side. At approx 22 inches hit big chunks of clays. Would that be considered the "hard pan" for this area?

Chuck, 2 questions. 1) It looks like you filled the Bachman drain pipe with gravel as well as the space around it, but didn't fill the inside of the Home Depot pipe but rather only the space around the Home Depot pipe. Am I correct? Is this what you did? If so, was there a reason?

2) If the hard pan is not able to allow water through, then how does water drain into the water table? I tried to find out what hard pan is, but I didn't find anything that said it couldn't allow water to drain through it.

Or if you can’t hire a man or have another friend come over with you and help power that drill. Go rent a skid steer that is equipped with a auger to drill down into the dirt past that hard pan then pass your stuff in on top of it of what you’re trying to fix to see which ones drains better quicker.

Have a friend come over to your house it’s good and strong and both of you to use a two-man gas powered auger to drill down into the dirt all the way where you need it. Do not use the drill by yourself because you could hit a rock and possibly break your back into. And yes, it is possible to do that because a friend of mine was using one and he broke his back into and over the days that came his back kept getting worse in pain And then he found out he had cancer. But now use a gas powered dog or drillbit that will drill down into the dirt for like post hose and you can go that route because it’ll be a lot better less strain on them post hole diggers. Last strain on the human body.and then try that apparatus so what this man is offering to do.
