After three months with the M4 Mac mini, it's time to break down the experience—what's great, what's not so great, and whether this is still Apple's best-value desktop. In this video, I’ll share five things I absolutely love about the M4 Mac mini and five minor annoyances (though, to be fair, I’m really nitpicking here). Come on, then - who bought the M4 Mac mini? And what do you think?

I got my Mini M4 with 512 GB about 2 weeks ago. It replaced my MacBook Pro 13" from 2017. I was using the MacBook stationary with external monitor, mouse and keyboard since about 2 years and decided not to waste money in a laptop I never or seldom will use. So far I am very happy with it.

After watching your first video on the Mac Mini M4, and waiting for Satechi to launch their brilliant M4 Stand & Hub, I retired my 2014 iMac and replaced it with the Mac Mini M4 (16GB & 1TB SSD), plus magic keyboard with touch ID and the wonderful Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. I also bought the fantastic Satechi Stand & Hub, into which I've put a Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe SSD for my Time Machine backups.
I also sold one of my legs (from an old table) and bought the Studio Display which is simply stunning!
Then, my final act of wanton consumerism was the excellent Vernal sit/stand desk in walnut.
Dream set up now achieved and either I've gone deaf, or the MMM4 really is silent

Hi Mark, I switched from a Win11 huge desktop setup to this Mac Mini M4 Pro 1To and I really enjoy it everyday. Very happy to have taken the 1TB option, 512GB would have been too small for my use.

You were one of the triggers for my switch from Windows to this Mac. What's more, I managed to get the M4 Pro 1TB for the price of 512Gb. A golden deal!

Just picked mine up yesterday and set it up today, I upgraded mine to 24gb memory and 1tb storage and I can’t believe how quick I was able to migrate from my M1 Mac Mini to this, just under an hour moving nearly 400gb of storage using a Thunderbolt cable amazing plus Apple are offering an increased trade in value until 2nd April so I got £100 more for the old one than I would have if I had bought it a month ago. 😊

The back part does come off on the Mac Mini and it is 100 percent upgradeable from the SSD standpoint. Just finished upgrading my base model M4 Mac Mini from 256Gb to 1TB using a third party SSD. The swap couldn't have been any easier and saved myself a couple hundred bucks.

I love mine! Bought it on launch day. Greatest mac I ever owned. I cohse the base model and put everything on an external ssd.

Mark, I absolutely love your videos. It’s because of you that I bought the base model and added external storage (4TB + 4 more TB for my Time Machine). The power button doesn’t bother me at all. I never turn it off. Just put it to sleep. And I’ve never heard the fan even once.

When I purchased my M1 24" iMac two years ago to replace my 27" intel iMac I kept telling myself the smaller screen isn't so bad and the chiclet keys with way less travel that
still aren't backlit isn't so bad after all...well I was lying to myself the whole time so this summer M4 Mac mini it will be with third party backlit key board and 30" plus screen baby!

It amazes me how these reviewers always tell you that the base model is enough for 99, 99% of people but still they always go for the pro version.

As soon as I heard that I could upgrade the storage from a $200 2TB SSD from Aliexpress, I bought the base model right away. Now my M2 Mini is retiring to be a server.

I have the M1 mini and it still runs great. Good to know they’re improving so much when I need to upgrade (shouldn’t be for years yet!)

after 30 years I switched to Apple equipment and it is a Mac Mini M4. I have had it for almost 2 months and it is not easy to navigate the MacOs environment, however I appreciate the stability of the system itself, its speed of operation, no blue screens or other errors. Mac Mini M4 is mega quiet, sometimes I forget that I have a computer on my desk, and its size is simply awesome. I also added a Satechi hub and it is mega, because I take a lot of photos and I simply have to have a reader, I will also buy an SSD and it will be for handy photo editing etc. The problem for me is that some programs, such as Power BI are not written for MacOs and unfortunately I have to emulate Windows 11 to be able to use this program... I am still learning the MacOs environment, and the computer itself is amazing.

I agree 100% with you about the placement of the power button. I never turn my M1 Mac Mini off unless I’m moving it. The power button on the bottom never bothered me.

I just upgraded to the Mac Mini M4 from a 2014 MacBook Pro. It’s nice to know there’s a stand and storage hub to increase storage if need be. Thanks for showcasing that!

I got lucky and was able to pick up an upgraded M4 MacMini with 24 GB of ram, and 512 GB storage, from the Apple Certified Refurbished Store for $849.
Oh, and you’ll love this. The last Mac I purchased, , , was a 2006 Mac Pro with the intel Xeon processor. 😂 19 year upgrade cycle! 😂

Agreed! I got the 256 GB base model for $500 and added a 4TB NVMe SSD in an external thunderbolt enclosure for $300. I'm completely satisfied! 😊
