Twycross Zoo Miniature Railway, 2002/2003

EDIT: The locomotive and rolling stock are now at Puxton Park, in Somerset. So the railways pretty much dead. Ah well, it was good while it lasted. At least the locomotive and rolling stock get a second life instead of being scrapped.

The old Twycross Zoo Miniature Railway seen running in 2002 and 2003. The locomotive seen is a Severn Lamb 2-8-0 Rio Grande (MK2) Diesel Outline locomotive. It's seen here in its old livery before it was repainted (not sure when) and had the canopies fitted to the tender and coaches.

The line has been closed since last year and its future is uncertain. On one site I saw the stock and track up for sale, and the other theory I've heard for it not running is because they don't have the money at the moment, and the animals being the higher priority, which is understandable. So the future for this line is quite uncertain, but I hope it stays. If not, I'll live.

Such a shame it's closed now - I grew up around that area and used to love going on the trains around the site.
