Katana is still my fav option if I should carry weight. Great sound, deeply customizable and for the half of this price. If I connect a Headrush Frfr to the line out Im in a blast when playing bot clean and distorted. Don't get the point of buying a 800€ cab and a simulator that rounds the thing for more than 1000€ and doesn't represent a real improvement in the sound quality. Im not runting, just sharing my opinion after owning a Headrush Giboard, a Neural DSP, AXE FX II, Kemper and a Tech 21 fly rig. After all, my favorite is the katana on the go. Put on the stage and melt faces even with another guitar with a loud valve amp competing in the mix for mid empire of terror.

Always drawn to these devices never convinced myself to make the move. There is something about the sound in not 100% convinced vs a real amp. But IK and the tonex thing are really

I have the Laney FRFR CAB that also has a tweeter. I love it. It sounds amazing and feeds back like a real cab. You should get one on the channel for comparison

Modelers tend to sound too Hifi, and high Cuts are often necessary to control high frequencies and Presence for playing enjoyment, particularly when playing through Studio Monitoring Headphones. Smart move by IK Multimedia ToneX to help get good live tones for gigs.

I have been using a modeling amp (the first one ever made) live through FOH since 1999. The reason most people think that tube amps sound better is because that concept has been pounded into their heads.

Given the similarity to all-singing, all-dancing DSP PA cabs, it’s astounding IK are the first company to offer the guitar market so much tweakability in a familiar UI.
Remarkable that all the traditional amp companies - with all their experience - didn’t previously think to offer their target market - who might be interested to explore a digital option and thus potentially jump ship from helping year end figures - a. what they wanted in an easy to use format or b. didn’t think that delivering knobs for people to really like to get in the weeds and dial in sounds, was a good idea.
The seemingly inevitable demise of traditional amp builders reminds me of Agfa camera film deciding too late, that digital cameras might, just might, have a detrimental impact on their future sales and business model.
This product - coupled with the Tonex - may very well be the proverbial straw that was unkind to animals.

Yeah, not sure. I bought a Line 6 Catalyst CX100 recently and super happy with it. Much better value than an FRFR as it I can use it as a grab 'n' go as is with some excellent customtones loaded, with my full pedalboard as a normal amp, or with my Tonex in the power amp in. I'm really impressed and relatively cheap here in NZ. The Tonex Cab looks great though, but yeah!

Being stateside, European wall plugs always make me laugh (they just look funny). As I am sure it is for y'all in reverse😛 Great playing and I never knew this cab was coming out. I have a Tonex One and have been playing through bookshelf monitors at home which has been mediocre. This looks promising and sound pretty good.
