One of the greatest revelations somebody gave me recently is rather than going to God and listing every issue that they had and asking God to do this and that, they felt convicted to just say “God, it’s yours” and follow up with praise, worship and adoration to God. This changed my way of praying. All we need to do is look to Him. He knows our hearts, and in this, he will see that His will is done.

The point of prayer is to learn how to adjust our lives to align with the will of God so we can understand how to impact our world for Him. We make our requests known by prayer with gratitude that we may build our faith and learn dependence upon God. God is not Santa, He's not there to give us what we want, we are here to give Him His justly deserved glory.

Prayer is how we commune with God. We can enter the Holy of Holies in a moment.

I use my prayers to thank God for everything in my life, especially the bad stuff because it brings me closer to Him. I end my prayers by asking "if you are willing, show me how to live for you."
I just feel that God gives me so much that all I need from Him is a better understanding of Him. Lead me to your kingdom, my Lord, I will try my hardest to bring more.

If I can add something, prayer is not us giving God a shopping list of what we want. Prayer is a humble conversation you have with Him.

Prayer is simply the lifting of the soul to God, and God coming down to meet it. It's a moment where the human and divine meet in an act of mutual self giving love to know each other's will. This is why I love churches that do liturgical prayer and worship such as Catholics, Anglicans, and Lutherans because it's the whole church praying the scriptures together in a form of moving poetry.
