Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB - DETAILED SETUP & UNBOXING ~ Balancing Tone Arm ~

Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BZ (bronze finish) unboxing and detailed setup video.

First sorry for the improper terminology on a few of the parts, still trying to learn the proper names myself!!

How to carefully open the box, assemble the turntable, and balance the tone arm. Putting on the dust cover was by far the most simple step, the grooves will help you to easily distinguish how it goes in. I also highly recommend to be slow and careful with removing the TT and the pieces out of it's packaging, using scissors to cut the tape rather than tearing it off will be a much safer route to prevent any potential damage to your cartridge.

I bought this is 2021, it was the first thing I bought with my First paycheck. I wouldn’t change it with any other turntable, not only does it look beautiful but it sounds amazing aswell.

Very good instruction video. I've watched loads and set up my Project TT many times so didn't need to watch but video just happened to pop up on my feed. You did it very well and anyone with that unit will have no problem setting up if they following your clear, detailed and unrushed set up.

This is perhaps The absolute best unpacking and mounting and adjusting video about Turntables. And you believe me in my qge Ive seen a lot of them and not so few are just aweful. Care and relavent tips and methods and clear Camera work will make it a breese to all of you first time Turntables fans and even some Turntables veteran. And important as he tells you - be carefull, foresighted, prepare and absolutely no hurry! Take Your TIME because this is an important investion that will give you many hours of love and joy of Your not cheap and sensitive finetuned gear that will have a longer live left than many of those Who are over 25 Years old. I bought my Thorens TD-160 FIFTY YEARS ago about 1974 and it still works perfect with my newly cleaned cartridge MA Micro - Acoustic 2002-e bought about 1976 after 35 to 45 years pause. So listen and follow his instructions to carefully guys! So a lot of thanks to this Guy! ❤️😀👍

I've had this model TT for close to 3 years now, absolutely love it. Best sounding TT and cartridge I've ever had over the years. Mine is all black, never seen the black and bronze before, that looks pretty damn cool....

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had no idea why my records sounded like crap until I realized, through your video, the tonearm was not balanced properly. The printed instructions are an absolute joke, but your explanation did the trick! 🤘🤘

I've had the lp120 usb silver/black since 2016. It does have weak anti skate. But, other than that it has been flawless. I keep a towel over the top of it to protect the dust cover from scratches.

Thank you so much for this video. I just bought mine with 0 clue as to how to start using it. I watched videos that talk about balancing but they were never as thorough or never zoomed in. Thank you!!

I absolutely have to get two of this model. I love the bronze finish on this version. Great video as well. I definitely needed something like this when i first bought my turntables years ago.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a small tip that I just recently discovered;

The manual states 2 grams for the tone arm weight which was what I've been using for the last 3 months (2.03g). Everything was perfect until I started collecting records that were in more used conditions. The records with damage in the grooves (1 record even brand new and came scratched) will have a tendency to skip at a certain part of the record. Light scratches it only happened once or twice, but the heavily used records, some of them will skip every single time at the exact same part of the song.

THE FIX

Increasing the tonearm weight to 2.25 -2.40 completely eliminated the skipping on the records I was experiencing it with. I'm sure even 2.50 - 2.60 would still be good and not damage your records, but I spent some time experimenting the limits of how light I can go, and 2.20 - 2.25 was definitely the sweet spot, I'd say closer to 2.25. If you're experiencing any skipping, I would recommend increasing your tonearm weight by increments of 0.10 and keep going until you find the sweet spot. If you don't have a tonearm scale, no worries, the tonearm weight has small lines in-between the numbers that indicate .10 decimal. Just gently increase it 1 notch at a time and re play your record to see if you're getting any skipping. Use a heavily used record with clear scratches for the best results.

Hope this helps and ask away if you guys need help with this or anything else :)
