Limb lengthening procedures have been around for years but have been reserved for those with disabilities or uneven limbs, but doctors are now offering elective lengthening procedures. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kevin Debiparshad joins with his patient David to share how the procedure works, sharing that his patients usually grow 3-6 inches taller. Is this something you would consider?

Society: "We want tall men."
Women: "I want a tall man."
Men: *gets leg lengthening surgery to be taller*
Everyone: "OMG WHY WOULD DO THAT?! YOU SHOULD LOVE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE!"

I hate being short, this surgery gives me hope. I hope that it becomes cheaper.
It's easy to say "don't do it" when you are 6' tall.
This procedure works well, it makes your taller and if it is properly done, you recover well, there are a lot of videos about it.

I was 5, 8 when I was 14. My mum bought me a pair of trousers and a pair of shoes to “grow into”. 20 years later and they’re still too big.

Being 5'3" I have always been looked down upon in School. I was called so many different names for being short. The same friends and classmates who used to mock about my height are posting about body positivity on social platforms. Now that I'm 21 years of age I just don't care what others think about my height. I have accepted my height and I love myself and my body just the way I am!

I'm a cancer survivor. When I was a teenager the cancer and chemo stunted my bone growth, so I'm now 5'5. It sucks being a short man in the USA. I'm taking less seriously, it's a big disadvantage in dating, I have constant dysmorphia. Even the people who are all about "body positivity, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes" will dismiss my issues or make fun of me for being short. I may be cancer free, but society treats my height like cancer. If I had the money, I would do this surgery in a heart beat.

I’m 5’5” and I have always wanted to do something like this in the past but now that I’m older I’m just trying to be the best me that I can be. I’m working out, lifting weights, squatting and deadlifting heavy weights. Nothing is free and to give up your peak athletic ability for 2 inches is not worth it. Plus there is always the chance of a complication and becoming disabled or damaged. It sucks being short but just make up for it by working on everything else. Work harder at work, work harder in the gym, work harder in the social setting and make everyone else jealous of the amazing things you can do.

limb lenghtening surgery isnt usually this expensive, its just the use of the Precice system that makes it expensive. The precise system usues an electromagnet to move the nail inside the bone instead of external screws, reducing the need for antibiotics and long down time. Its very safe.

In the future when this gets more advanced, common and, hopefully, cheaper, I'd definitely be willing to do this. Dysphoria sucks haha

This is incredible like this doctor should win an award. He made it sound so simple and that’s just because he views things differently. That’s so cool. Much love ❤️

$76, 000 (*_*) If you did it in Russia or Vietnam, you would pay only around $4, 000. However, i believe that doing it in The USA is safer and more guaranteed.

Been wanting to be tall all my life. I respect the people who are willing to undergo this surgery. If they have their means or if that is their own money well go for it. Thanks to our new technologies and very smart doctors. But for me I'd rather to stay this height .If I have the means, I might spare them for travelling, foods, business and of course I will not be hyprocrite I might consider some minor cosmetics surgeries for my self improvement which are way cheaper than having this lengthening procedure.

I don’t play sports so I’ll be fine with losing athletic ability. As long as I’m able to exercise

I'm 5ft9 and I'm sometimes embarassed by my height. The truth is that I won't take this surgery even if it's safe, pain free and affordable. I'm average and i want to learn to accept myself and mybody and focus on what really matters, my character and values. I can't say to someone who is 5ft to not do it, but I won't myself.
