Kimiko Glenn - Never Ever Getting Rid of Me (Lyrics) - "Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow"

Lyrics:

Dawn
I will never let you let me leave
I promise I'm not lying
Go ahead ask anybody who has seen me trying
I'm not going, if it seems like I did
I'm probably waiting outside
Such a stubborn man you'll likely never meet another
When we have our family dinner you can ask my mother
She's the best, you'll learn more about her on our family history test
I'm gonna do this right
Show you I'm not moving
Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow
Oh, I'm gonna love you so
You'll learn what I already know
I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me
You can try, oh, but I
I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me
Ready for your check?
Not quite, pie for everybody
What?!
I grew up an only child in the suburb of the city
Spent my days alone my only friend was a stray kitty called Sardine
I thought it was hilarious to call a cat a kind of fish
She played hard to get hissing while she scratched me
What she was trying to say was "Ogie come and catch me"
I learned quickly, that perseverance stood between a cat and her new best friend, me
Oh, I'm gonna do this right
Show you I'm not moving
Wherever you go, I won't be far to follow
Oh, I'm gonna love you so
You'll learn what I already know
I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me
When you say never
You can try, oh, but I
I love you means blah blah blah yip yap yap yap now get back to work!
I can try, but I
I love you means you're never, ever, ever getting rid of me

I don’t think enough people know that this song is from the musical waitress, it wasn’t meant to be a creepy/ stalker song, the girl he’s singing to (dawn) has abandonment issues, she has her own song that shows how scared she is to open up to a man in case he doesn’t like her the same way. It was supposed to be a song to show that he won’t leave her.

I swear this song is so addicting as someone with abandonment issues this is my comfort song-

This song is proof to the notion that the line between Crazy and Adorably Wholesome
is merely a matter of how the other person receives it

(and lets be honest, we all received this very positively)

This song proves that context is always important in any language.

How can this song be so wholesome yet so creepy at the same time.

I don’t know if anyone else feels this ways but I find the voice he makes at the end hilarious every time. It’s like he’s purposefully tryna taunt and annoy the person he’s singing it too. But you’re never getting rid of him 😂

The reason this is frequently interpreted as yandere is because "get rid of" conveys intent. Someone trying to get rid of something is always, per definition, doing it on purpose. They might regret their decision later, but in that moment, it was a deliberate action. Whereas "lose" would imply the person being sung to unintentionally pushing away and/or failing to maintain a relationship with the singer (who is trying to reassure them that this wouldn't happen), "get rid of" means the person being sung to would be making the _conscious decision to remove the singer from their life, _ but they _refuse._ This unwillingness to leave could reasonably be interpreted in an affectionate and lighthearted manner, with the singer joking that the singee couldn't convince them to break up with them if they tried, or, more extremely, as the obsessive/possessive behavior characteristic of the yandere trope. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Love how this song is him showing his love for dawn and telling her he loves her so much he'll never leave, but also love the fact that it has that tint of obsession to it that makes it unsettlingly wholesome. 😅

“…I love you means; you’re never, ever, ever getting rid of me!…”
I don’t why but this hits me…being that that’s I view love: never leaving someone side to support them, improving upon one another, and never wanting to be without them, throw the sad, good, heart break, loss, and success. And loving all their floss and goals. And in the song he tries so hard to prove it that he loves her, but she doesn’t believe him.

I am curious what’s your view of love? What’s it’s goal? And most importantly do you think you are loved?

A song better sung to a fiancée, rather than a crush.

If my man don’t sing this to me while he asks me out then I’m saying no.

I might be crazy

I love this song so much
If any of you are looking for an actual stalker song listen to "you'll be back" that one is an actual toxic one, while this one shows that he's never gonna stop loving him, the girl he's singing to has abandonment issues btw
