Great work and thanks for sharing the struggle and insight to the build 👍

One thing to note about the rear spacing of the frame. Increasing the width is called "cold setting" and it's a very common thing to do on steel frames. However, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO THIS if you have an aluminium frame. Then again, aluminium frames usually come in more modern sizes.

So glad I found this video. I am doing this exact conversion with a 1980 Panasonic Sport and you have just saved me a lot of headache researching what components will work.

Reynolds 531 frames ride like a dream and can be cold set at home. I love the old steel frames whether Reynolds, Columbus, and the real treasures are some of the Japanese steel frames. I'm always watching for them. Thanks for the video.

I love the simplicity of your approach and build. The way you present also great. In fact I must thank you for giving me great ideas for my own vintage builds that I have done. Thank You!

When the bike is on the stand, tilt it down i.e. front down/nose down. This stops the front wheel tilting left to right. As gravity pulls the wheel straight.

Thank you for giving this beauty a second chance.

Such a lovely steel.

Good job!

I really want to build something like this. I have literally no idea how to do or where to collect parts from.
Love the idea of it.
Brilliant video too. Thanks

Nice build. But why does every budget gravel bike build usually use new parts for the drivetrain. You could probably get used 105 or ultegra 11s for the same money.

Bike looks amazing! Nice work! 👍🏼
Pro tip don't lube the gears, just the chain.
A brown leather Brooks saddle would look amazing in there.

1 a bike is like a glove and a machine so it's got to be suited for your size and riding style. 2 one of my hands is messed up and I like thumb shifters.

Nice build, although I think you can get cheap hard tails for around 500 euro. The drop geometry is nice though

Nice conversion, I have the same bike stand, I have an older late 70s early 80s Chicago Schwinn I'll soon get my hands on soon... I was thinking of doing this with...
Wondering what size this frame is.
