In this video we go through projection and recieving light in the two major ways. Subscribe to the series for more.
Notes:
Polarisation, we are always shooting EMR in two waves but we can make it vibrate in only one.
Multi-spectral = Less than 10 bands (wavelengthvalues)
hyper-spectral = More than 10 bands (wavelengthvalues)
Layover, foreshortening, shadowing:
(1)Foreshortening occurs when the true length of a tall feature, such as a mountain, appears compressed [See foreshortening in sketching];
(2) layover occurs when the radar beam reaches the top of a tall feature (because it is closer to the sensor than) before it reaches the base.
While these effects are more pronounced in aircraft radar images, they also occur in satellite imagery;
(3)Shadowing is where locations are shielded from the radar pulse which cannot generate a return so appear as shadow.
