Kenya: The British government on Wednesday pledged millions of dollars in aid to Kenya to help combat climate change, extremism in the region and to help roll out COVID-19 vaccines in Kenya and developing countries.

Mozambique: Foreign Minister Veronica Macamo met Wednesday her Portuguese counterpart and EU envoy Augusto Santos Silva in Maputo to discuss the situation in the northern Cabo Delgado province, where jihadist attacks threaten a major natural gas plant.

Mali: Officials and soldiers of the U.N. Mission in Mali paid tribute Tuesday to the four Ivorian peacekeepers killed in attacks in the north of the country. The U.N. Mission in Mali has lost 146 of its members to hostile acts since its 2013 deployment -- the deadliest U.N. mission in the world.

Nigeria: The country is in its second recession in four years, triggered by an oil price crash that hammered state revenues and weakened the domestic naira currency. That has made imports more expensive, spurring inflation that has been felt by restaurants and wholesale vendors.
