In this presentation, Commercial photographer Kevin Ames
explains in simple terms what studio flash units do and how to use them. Power output, controls, modifiers and how to measure the light produced by studio flash are explored in detail. This is a how-to experience that shows examples of actual lighting challenges that are solved with lightweight, durable and affordable Dynalite power packs and heads.

Kevin also shares his work created with Dynalite electronic flashes. He shows behind the scenes photos, detailed lighting diagrams and explains what each light does. He even explains how to simply measure the exposure as well as how to control color and eliminate unwanted color casts.

After 30 minutes I feel like I'm still watching the commercial for Dynalite

Great presentation, thank you.  Going back to the basics, explaining the terms and then speaking in f stops with the numbers on the photos made the subject instantly understandable.  The reminder that printing presses are only capable of only 4 stops is a reminder that needs reinforcing.

Overall a good presentation but there is some slightly misleading information in it.

Firstly, you can get beautiful light from a speedlite either by modifying it, feathering it, by grouping them, or by bouncing them. A pack is not inherently 'prettier light' that a speedlite per se.

Also not all speedlites are 60w/s equivalent, some are more powerful. From a cost benefit perspective a Yongnuo 560 iii is about $70 and competes well with the most expensive options from Nikon and Canon in terms of light output.

Lastly watt/seconds are a measure of power not light output. Different units with the same watt/second rating can absolutely output different amounts and quality of light.

Great photos :-)  BTW, you don't happen to know a Photo Instructor in Daytona Beach named Richard Turner or Catherine Craft in Anderson, SC do ya?  Old friends of mine :-)
