your opening message about crosley, victrola, etc. is unbelievably kind and helpful when compared to most other creators. it is so hard for people getting into vinyl—especially young people—to find useful information from someone who isn’t condescending. i wish i would have found your channel 6 years ago lol.

THIS is how you do a review! Spectacular content man - getting a record player for someone special to me, and your warning about ruining records by purchasing a cheap player was a fantastic call out. Appreciate you!

I looked at a number of turntables including all of the ones in the video and the Orbit Special but ended up buying the Debut Carbon Evo with the walnut finish. It arrived yesterday and I could not be happier with my choice. This is a game changer in sound, even with my lower end preamp. Easy setup and great build. It looks and sounds amazing!

I love the Fluance line. I did purchase the RT 85, and it comes with an Acrylic platter and Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge. Sounds fantastic. Easy set up. I’m a fan of black, and the piano finish is gorgeous.

I just want to say, I have watched about 10 similar videos in the past few days to narrow my choices down and you explained everything in such a clear concise way that I can say I've learned more from this one video than all of the others combined. Thank you for making this!

This makes me love my $100 Technics SL-Q2 even more.

I search for "what vinyl player to buy " and I saw this dude... I always trust a man with a nice long beard. It's a sign of wisdom.
I don't regret clicking the video!

Santa just gave us an Audio technica AT-LPGO-BT (Wal-Mart renaming of the AT-LP60XBT). It's the best turntable they sell. I was able to get it with my employee discount for about $150. It's my return to listening to vinyl LPs for the first time since the 1980's, plus it isn't one of those El-cheapos you mentioned! So far, I'm pleased. If my mother or I want to play our records, just place the record on the platter and press the start button, and that's it. The player takes care of everything else. I'm just getting started, and find the sound acceptable for now.

The last time I purchased a new turntable was around 1985. I purchased a Denon with a servo arm, AT-130e cart etc. around $450.00 just knocked me out. I gave it away by mistake. I just purchased a new TT since that grievous loss/mistake. I purchased a U-Turn Theory, 3 year warranty Ortofon Bronze for about $1, 000.00 and it is a great sounding manual belt drive. It sounds very good and looks almost great as well. Cris, you might look at the U-Turn line sometime as you build your own and warranty can’t be beat, customer service is spot on and quick. They are out of Massachusetts.

I recently upgraded my TT from the AT60XBT to the Fluance RT83 and wow, what a difference it made! I paired it with the Project Phono box MM into Jamo 801 powered speakers with a Yamaha sub. Just getting back into vinyl after 30+ years and loving it. Love your channel and I look forward to more of your content.

I found this video after I made a purchase of a new turntable. Had been loving music for over 55 years and conclude I not a very smart person. I have gone the route of vinyl to CD and now digital on my I phone. Spent a good amount of money looking for the best method and now closing in at being 70 yrs old decided I had it already in vinyl. I thought my record collection was junk and went to digital years back. Somehow I got smart, bought a vinyl record cleaning kit and a new turn table. I need to toss a few albums but most of my collection plays great and the sound to me is better. I feel the turntable was a big influence and is the Pro Ject Debut model.

Great review! The Carbon EVO for Father's Day and I am so happy! This is my 1st turntable in a long time and couldn't be happier with the gift from my family. I have rediscovered vinyl and now my off days are consumed with record shop exploration.

I just upgraded from the Fluance RT81 to the Debut Carbon Evo with the acrylic platter upgrade. It gets delivered tomorrow. I can’t wait. I will be swapping my upgraded Ortofon 2m blue from my RT81 to the Debut and vice versa. I’m not ready to upgrade my Schmitt Mani yet though as it sounds epic paired with my Swan M3A powered speakers. If you haven’t heard the M3A’s, I highly recommend them. They are the best speakers I have heard anywhere near the price. I’m talking phenomenal sound. They are probably the best hidden gem in audio right now. Also, great video!

Honorable mention: the Fluance RT-85 which comes with the Ortifon 2m Blue and acrylic platter. The best under $500 imo in looks, build quality and sound.

almost thought about buying one of those little vinyl destroyers! thank you! I grew up listening to CDs and in high school you either had an ipod or still loved your cds. I absolutely noticed cheap players resulted in CD scratches, so im not dumbfounded but it makes absolute sense vinyl is able to be damaged. as you can tell, very new here.

Love both my Fluance RT83 and RT85 turntables. Beautiful tables that sound great.

Brit, can agree about the Rega P1 and it sounds fantastic. Although I have added a couple of things like an acrylic platter and a Audio-technica AT VM95E cartridge.
TT is connected to Musical Fidelity V90 LPS and Musical Fidelity M2si.

This is the first video of yours I've watched. I loved how concise and honest your reviews are. Looks like I might be in the market for the Pro-ject sooner or later
