You act as if listening to The Carpenters is a guilty pleasure when it is always just a pleasure!

You can always count on me sittin' in with you when Carpenters are on the set list. Karen's is one of a handful of voices that simply charm me to stillness, regardless of the song.

God blessed us with this woman, if only for a short time.

Growing up in the '70s we were fed a lot of soft rock/easy listening music both on TV variety shows and AM radio. I did listen to the Carpenters back then before moving on to harder stuff. These days I don't listen to much hard rock and can appreciate good pop songs for what they are.

I'm only 24yo, but Karen is my #1singer in the world...she's MY LADY FOREVER.

One of my favorite Carpenter's songs. I still remember all of the words, these albums were everything to me.

The Professor of Rock said he hated The Carpenters in the 70's but now adores them, same for me.

Just to remind you the amazing singer/songwriter behind this song and also Rainy Days And Mondays and We've Only Just Begun: Paul Williams.

So lovely - yes I did grow up with this. It's not the kind of thing I would ever have sought out as an adult, but given the familiarity and the context, it can't help to put a smile on my face and a glow in my heart. Count me as one of the fans...

We used to see them on TV. The Carpenters are in a class of their own. I never minded the saccharine.

Thanks for giving us more Carpenters. Great song. I’m 69 and I’ve been listening to the Carpenters since 1970, when it was not cool for that 15 year old! Whatever one thinks of their music, Karen’s vocals were remarkable. The best I’ve ever heard.

Carpenters can do no wrong. You don't have to say a word.

This gorgeous song was first airplayed starting September1972. The arrangements, musical accompaniments, harmonies, etc are exquisite. Richard was phenomenal with that & Karen really was an angel.

Oh I love this JP; I had forgotten about this one for sure. It's a good choice. It takes me back. For some reason I remember being plugged into it when I was just a kid. Better time. 😊❤

They re-recorded this for single release in '73-74 with more complex instrumentation including electric guitar. This is my second favorite Carpenters song after "Only Yesterday" - both songs have that same uplifting feel to them.
