Number 6. Climb up the Diamond Head
You can drive south-east from Downtown Honolulu for half an hour to get to this volcano that has long since died. Near the southern coast of Oahu, the Diamond Head is a great place to hike. Most of the time, it takes about an hour to climb up to the edge of the volcano. Once you get to the top, you'll be able to see Honolulu's skyline and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. In the foreground, you'll see the green crater's vast natural landscape. In the background, you'll see Honolulu's high-rise skyline.

Number 5. Take a historical walking tour
You can download maps of the Waikiki Historic Trail so you can walk along Waikiki Beach and learn more about its history. Along the way, you'll see statues of Hawaiian royalty and historical figures, among other things. The Royal Hawaiian, a strikingly pink hotel, gives free walking tours every week that tell interesting stories about their famous resort.

This famous place is on the eastern mountainside of Oahu. It has Buddhist gardens and the Byodo-In Japanese temple, which is a copy of the same temple in Kyoto, Japan. The temple has a Buddha statue that is about 18 feet tall and a 3-ton bell that you can sometimes ring. It also has peaceful gardens and koi ponds. From downtown Honolulu, it takes about 30 minutes to drive to the Valley of the Temples. The drive through the jagged Ko'olau Mountains is beautiful on its own.

Number 3. Learn about the history of Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor, a naval base near Honolulu where the Imperial Japanese forces launched their devastating surprise attack in 1941, is a great place to take a tour about World War II. Visits to Pearl Harbor are first-come, first-served, so it's best to get there early. The first 1,000 people who get there before 7 a.m. can get in for free. The visitor's centre and the beautiful harbour can be seen for free. But if you want to go inside the USS Bowfin submarine or the Pacific Aviation Museum, you have to buy a ticket.

Number 2. Aloha Tower
The Aloha Tower is one of the most well-known buildings in Honolulu. It was built in 1926 to show that Honolulu was a major port. It stands tall on Pier 9, where it looks out over the city and the harbour. If you go to the top of the tower, you'll see amazing views. From up close, you can see the skill that went into making the exterior of the historic building. At the ground level, the Aloha Tower Marketplace has places to shop, hold events, and eat.

You can't say your trip to Honolulu is over until you've been to Waikiki. Some of Honolulu's most expensive hotels are right next to this sandy beach with palm trees. There are parasols and loungers all along the coast, which faces the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Walking to the beach from Downtown Honolulu can be a fun part of the experience. From Ka'iulani Avenue, you can walk through the public garden and past the statue of the last Hawaiian crown princess.
