This is what watercolour is all about - delicate, transluscent layers resulting in luminous painting. So beautiful!

Maybe you are wondering why this artist floods each petal with extra water after painting it so nice and juicy wet in the first place. Why paint the petal darker in the first place, then flood it with water, only to subsequently lift the wetness and much of the color back off? That is because that flooding step helps to carry pigment to the edge of the shape, and deposits it there. Look at the dry petals carefully and notice the fine, darker edge on each one. That flooding step, followed by lifting, adds a wondrous, subtle beauty to each transparent petal! Love it! Thank you, Jay Lee!
