US Supreme Court asked to decide whether Trump is immune from criminal prosecution

The US Supreme Court has been asked to decide whether Donald Trump is immune from criminal prosecution with the former president arguing he’s protected against prosecution over official actions undertaken while in office.
Sky News Washington Correspondent Anneliese Nielsen says there's been a lot of developments in the number of cases against Donald Trump recently.
"But this would go to the heart of a few of them and it would speed up the whole process," she said.
“This is quite an unusual move by the Special Prosecutor Jack Smith to go directly to the Supreme Court and say, ‘can you decide on this’ and it circumvents the Court of Appeals.
“The District Court has already ruled on this, saying that being the president isn’t a 'get out of jail free' card and they’re free to proceed.”
