That lag on the digital key is awful, like really bad. That alone is a deal breaker. Not sure why you didn't bring that up, but Ide guess they gave you those keys for free, so maybe a bit biased in that regards

Functionality wise it does less than the original digital key fob from bmw but looks a lot cooler than the key from the g30 :)

my m3 has comfort access but its nice to have a little "key holder" for when you don't want to hold the key in your pocket. Only thing keeping me from buying this key upgrade is losing that feature, even though I have comfort access. I really hope you are right and gates is making an adaptor for the key insert, I would buy in a heartbeat!!

Thanks. I like the digital key, but like you, I’m not sure about the durability if (and when) the fob is dropped. Not just will it break, will it scratch too. I’m aiming more for the F85 X5 M key upgrade for my F10.

I've owned 2 e92s both with comfort access, and occasionally (maybe 1-2 out of 10 starts) both would not start without inserting the key.

Have you had that issue before or after the upgrade? If so, how did you fix it?

E9x do have a panic button..u have to hold the trunk button for 3-5seconds

What about for a e36 ? that’s my baby!! & I want to get a new key fob w/ the convertible button for the fob too. I’ve seen them but idk if it’s been done.

I know BMW's don't normally have a dedicated panic button but I'm fairly certain I've set off a panic mode by holding the trunk button.

Normally you hold the trunk button for 1-2 seconds or so and release and the trunk will open but if you continue to hold the trunk button is should set the alarm off.

Granted I believe if it's a lower cost BMW like a 328i without options they wouldn't come standard with the alarm system(absolutely ridiculous).

What machine was used to program the new keys? Or are they just new shells with the same electronics from the previous key?
