Resident Evil 5 - TO REMAKE OR NOT TO REMAKE?

The question of whether Resident Evil 5 deserves a remake is a different one – and to be honest, the answer is a resounding yes. There’s enough potential here to evolve an already decent experience into something truly memorable.

The remake should stick with the aspects which make Resident Evil 5 unique – that is, it’s action-heavy gunplay in searing daylight sections – there’s no reason a RE5 remake can’t be a success.

An re 5 remake would be incredible, I remember being in high school playing it on the ps3 the graphics and gameplay was mind blowing for me at the time. Love this game

Possibly adding a day and night cycle that happens everytime you reach a save room can change up gameplay and the overall atmosphere of the game. Having different enemy types appear in the day or night, or having certain enemies becoming harder to kill during the night is something that can appeal to people that liked the original but also to those who would want the game to lean into more horror.

to me this is still the best coop game I've ever played. I spend hundreds of hours playing the main campaign and mercenaries.

All of them should be remade. I'd be curious to see REmake in this style.

Absolutely it should! They just need to change the tone (like they did with RE 4) and make it a much darker game

I played the crap out of this game back in the day. Definitely a breath of fresh air that the franchise definitely needed at the time.

They definitely should remake 5 and it’s obvious that’s their plan. The premise of resident evil 5 has a lot of potential and they could make it scarier. Plus it was capcom a biggest selling game for nearly 10 years so you know they can’t resist those sales. They just need to cut out the stupid zombies with guns, and improve the level/encounter design of the second half

I think splitting up Chris & Sheva’s journey into two separate campaigns would be a great move, similar to Leon and Claire’s separate stories. They could split up to cover more ground while tracking down Irving, etc. It would add replay value as well as add to the tension and give it a more horror-centric feel.
They could both encounter different monsters and go to different locations (maybe chris goes to the marshlands while Sheva goes to the ruins, etc). And maybe in the end they team up to take down Wesker or something like that.

They really should do the same thing they did with Re4 remake cause Re5 is a great game great story but could use more horror aspects

I hope they keep Jill being brainwashed by Wesker and keep that iconic Battle Suit. I hope she acts as like a Nemesis/Mr X type boss in the remake by occasionally popping up occasionally and messing you up all while Chris and Sheva having no idea who it is. I really love RE3R Jill and what Nicole Tompkins did with her and would like to see her play a more villainess version of Jill. I might be in the minority but I think it'll be good.

I hope they keep co-op. Playing a video game for 30min with friends or family is worth 100 hours alone in an amazing game. At least for me.

You can control what ammo / weapons sheva uses. In "cover" mode she allways starts with the weakest weapon available to her (e.g. pistol) and in "attack" mode she uses the strongest weapon she has first. if that weapon runs out of ammo she switches to the next one.

I want a RE5 remake based on the first trailer. That game looked scary.

They should do the ultimate remake by combining the full story in one game

Yes a remake like what they did for RE4 would be nice for RE5. Even if it's just a HD fresh coat of paint for the graphics, like what Nintendo did for Metroid prime with $40 price.

I'm very skeptical about an RE5 remake because the game is so radically different from the style of remakes Capcom has been making. I'm not sure how they can remake it while keeping the core experience intact but if anyone can do it it's Capcom.

With that said, I love your idea about how they could incorporate the sun into the gameplay. I'm worried they'll just make the game game take place mostly at night which I feel misses the point of RE5. Time will tell though.

They need to add backtracking and puzzles like RE1-4 cause the main issue with RE5 is you couldn’t backtrack to previous areas to explore which is what RE is all about.

I’m not a Resident Evil fan or even an experienced gamer but as a film fan I have been fascinated by the way the 2 mediums deal with remakes? Film remakes are typically all about making something distinct and separate from the original, especially if it’s beloved, but most gaming fans seem to want remakes that are exactly like what came before? It’s interesting. Im curious could a loved game remake like RE4 go on to have its own new sequels that are completely different from what came before, ignoring the plot laid out by the old canon sequels? Could that work for underwhelming or disliked titles like RE6? I understand Final Fantasy 7 Remake deviates from the original plot and gets meta leading into the next game? I find all of it so fascinating.

RE 5 is definitely getting remade whether we like it or not. The ending cutscene of RE4R with Wesker talking to Ada has a photo of Excella and the Stairway of the Sun flower location on his giant monitor screen.
