I was skeptical at first, but after seeing the additional practicality of it I know it’s going to be so awesome for each and every one of the 15 people in the world who are going to set up an Atmos speaker system in their home.

Oh man, around the 57 minute mark, after 12 hours, Josh looked shattered, that was a man who needed some rest, what an awsome bloke, bless him.

I’m still here… 😂 your videos can never be too long. So much information, advice and inspiration in every video! Currently working on my first proper studio with Atmos in mind, almost from the word go. Thanks colt!

I did my Atmos upgrade over 5 years ago. Everything goes to the renderer now but I don’t actually get a lot of delivery requirements for Atmos. 5 years of Atmos hype and not a lot of payoff for me.

Huge risk; huge reward. Risk mitigated with impeccable vision and organization. Well played, Colt!

I’m 3 minutes in and Josh already seems exhausted 😂

I have a serious love-hate relationship with this process. There are days when I can't wait to work through a system. Then there are times when I would rather eat broken glass.

The more phantom centers the more accurate mix placement! This was incredible and can’t wait to hear an Atmos rig in person someday!

watched it to the end …Switching back and from atmos curve to what was ur flat and tuning the stereo image for loudness at each speaker set helped me a bunch…using dadman to eq as well setting up monitor profiles just getting going with mine have not mixed yet

It is amazing how one is able to become totally absorbed in something that you neither fully understand or are able to envisage in your own home studio environment. Even though this was a long video by YT standards, I really enjoyed it. You have managed to create a world class room Colt, so hats off to you.

/s dystopia: in 5 years, after having spent 1 year building everything and $200k less in the account, you discover that the atmos mix is no longer the trend, and that ultimately just a stereo mix is enough.

At least you have a good sound system to listen to a few CDs. 😁

Still here, man! Josh seems like an awesome hang, too!

This feels like the peak of consumerist brain rot for mix engineers. Someone somewhere is laughing is disbelief that they managed to con you into buying this setup.

I could understand if you were pushing the boundaries of classical or EDM, or maybe prog jazz or metal. Maybe if you were Hans Zimmer’s engineer, or an artist like Jon Hopkins.

But you’re not, I’ve listened to all the tracks in your playlist and they’re the most generic, played out, and bland pop country “oh darlin, I dun mess’d up by kissin’ yer sister, now I miss ya” forgettable Nashville trash.

You could install and tune another 500 speakers in that room and it STILL wouldn’t improve the songs.

Just a truly baffling series of events. I guess if it makes you happy that’s the main thing. Happy birthday 🎉

I wish I had that technology back in the 70s when I was audiophile running an all-tube audio rig with bi-amped custom speakers and an electronic crossover. We did it all by ear back then.
