At Toys R Us, we called people who hid items under shelves "pack rats". They were ranked as "annoying but mostly harmless" in our pantheon of bad guests/collectors.

Problem is the vast majorirty never remembered to come back for the items. Infact i found both a larry bird and Michael Jordan starting lineup figures in their packaging under a sheft durring a remodel, they were under the shelves for almost ten years! Unfortunately the years of floor wax and cleaning solution damaged the packaging...

I used to be a janitor at walmart and sweeping under the shelves takes so long and is a huge pain in the ass. You have to go on the other side and push the broom about 5 feet back and need to get really low. Then pull it all the way out without hitting the supports and moving 3 feet over and do it again. Hopefully you have someone on the other side cleaning up what you push out and pulling all the merchandise out and seeing if its still sell able or needs to get sent to claims. Takes like 2 hours to do 1 department.

Imagine how many memories this guy has ruined by just buying up lego sets to just keep them in a closet instead of actually building them like they were made to do!

At this point, whichever kid left it there has probably long forgotten, so the chances of some random adult collector finding it were probably pretty good
