Can we talk about this scene, though? Like. We see in the opening montage that their friendship is fairly solid in its pranks and we can assume the same for some under-the-belt jabs as well. With that in mind, it's worth noting that McQueen was the rookie in the year The King retired. A bit of a low blow if it were nearly anyone else, but that's just the kind of friendship they have, and it also sets the tone for the film perfectly - it's the end of McQueen's journey that we've been with him on since the first film. He'll pass on the torch just like Strip Weathers before him. It's actually my favourite scene in the Cars franchise.
