Why is this forest turning orange?

Two ways to restore the planet 👇

Every year, millions of Monarch butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles from Canada to the forests of Michoacán, Mexico. It’s one of the most incredible migrations in nature.

Unfortunately, their winter home is in danger. Climate change is spreading diseases through the forests of Michoacán and illegal logging continues to shrink their habitat.

That's why, in our 26th mission, we're teaming up with WWF Mexico to help protect the butterflies and restore the forests they depend on.

A couple of days ago I learned that a collective noun for a group of butterflies is a kaleidoscope. Thanks for working to keep alive the world's largest kaleidoscope of butterflies!

Bittersweet to see government funding for biodiversity research disappearing along the butterflies fly path, but inspiring how Planet Wild, with all the members, and people planting native plants, are stepping up here!

I almost started crying, watching this video. Please, I hope nothing bad happens to all these people working on this project. Several people have been killed trying to protect those butterflies and the nature in Mexico.

I am so stoked. Over 30 years ago, I read about the Monarch Butterfly forest in a book that was not illustrated. At that time, I had no internet and no way to look up what the butterfly looked like. I just couldn't find it in any book, and I always wondered how millions of these butterflies would look. Later, with the internet, I saw pictures of singular Monarch Butterflies, but not how they would look in the millions hanging in trees. This video gave me a much better impression, thank you! I am so glad this kind of butterfly is still around, and that it is one of your projects.

I love how much you partner with already existing projects. You aren't trying to start something totally new or start from scratch, your using the money given from so many Planet wild supporters give. I think this is such a great way to do charities, create awareness, educate folks, and help create community. Because none of these projects can be done without a large amount of people, a community can do so much more than any individual!

I also love that you're promoting ecosia! There's also tabs for a cause! I use them all the time for new tabs, and the money for ads go towards various charities that you get to pick yourself. Highly recommend them too!

A majestic moment for me was when a hurricane came across the gulf; thousands upon thousands of butterflies came inland from the coast. Because highways are often an obstacle, they crossed at a stopping point - a Border Patrol checkpoint in South Texas. Waiting at the checkpoint, they were absolutely everywhere. A magical moment.

My husband and I live in the monarch flight path. We are restoring habitat on our property by removing invasives and planting natives, trying to achieve 70% or more coverage in natives. Amongst the natives we have are patches of milkweeds.

I've spent the last 5 years replanting milkweed and relocating milkweed in an effort to help make a safe area for monarchs. In Minnesota I've watched the numbers go down threw out my life and it hurts because nature is apart of my childhood and everyday life

I grew up in Southern Ontario, Canada. The sight of a milkweed plant brought me joy, a caterpillar likewise. Then the butterflies! Such an appropriate name for these majestic insects and their arduous migrations. Thank you Planet Wild and Ecosia and WWF for working together to assist the monarchs. I'm very happy to be a PW backer and Ecosia user. Good Luck with this vitally important project.

California is on the flight path as well. Narrow leaf milkweed as well as native nectar plants help grow a beautiful monarch garden!

It is Incredible, just how underappreciated they are

When I was a child, they were _the_ mascot of beauty in nature

My sister knows about them, and she has never even been to the western hemisphere, yet nowadays, people living next to them don't know about them

Thank you so much for this Incredible work you do to protect such an icon of nature
