The biggest problem was that Audi decided to use their own app to activate the stations - I just did 4400 miles on my ID.4 around the US and didn’t have a single issue on EA, but they use the EA app for free charging and it activates *much* quicker,

It’d annoy the hell out of me with such hassle on the EA system. Tesla Supercharger wins hands down in convince and stress-free. And thank you for the video, excellent comparison

So having to use an app also means you need cell signal, so what do you do if your you arrive at a charger to find out you barely have a cell signal. Love the Audi, and other EV's but until their charging network is as seamless and convenient as Tesla's.. I'm gonna have to stick with my Model 3. This definitely doesn't help to further the mission of EV adoption. Enjoyed the video - would have loved to participate.

I went 2400 miles to and from Tampa, FL. Used EA most of the time. No issues at all. My red pony and I loved it.

Tesla's charging network is underappreciated by people who have never driven an EV or a Tesla. People also underappreciate your honesty and willingness to take us on this journey of comparison. Keep up the good work. In time I do believe that other charging networks and manufactures of EV's will become more comparable but kudos to Tesla for the vision to solve this issue before it was even needed.

Superchargers win hands down. No hassle and so easy to use.

EA should immediately start charging while it gets the authentication done with account (most people are only going to use charger if have an account / can pay). Then if not valid, could stop and they would only loose a few cents in electricity but would be a better experience vast majority of the time.

It looks like the first 2 sessions never left 400V charging mode. You would get that speed on Tesla V3 as well. Your 800V charging system doesn’t support high amps (thinner cables).
For comparision: The 350kW chargers typically cap at 500A, resulting in <200kW for a M3. PS: Being able to charge on every network is a huge plus for the EU M3.

I haven't done much long trips lately due to pandemic. But Supercharger was one of the big considerations when purchasing my Y. This proves why I don't see myself jump shipping to another EV maker anytime soon.

I recently did a 1700 mile road trip in my LEAF. I successfully charged Chademo at Electrify America, EVgo, and Chargepoint along the way.

Can you imagine a rain storm while using electrify america. No thanks, I will stick with the tesla charging network.

A suggestion for Electrified America to improve the charging process with a BAR CODE on each station your phone can scan to automatically link your account to the station and pay process.

Wonderful collaboration on the video and belated Happy Birthday Brian!

Your Audi will not charge fast on Superchargers, as it requires 800V-900V charger to get this speed.
The cool thing about Tesla is that it charges fast on a 400V-500V chargers.

I have done a few road trips in my Etron GT as well, and had that same issue initially where it takes time for the Audi app to load the electrify america piece to start the charger. I have the whole process down pretty well now, but it still takes about 2 minutes to get it all going vs the plug and play with Tesla. I thought I saw a video where the Rivian R1T was plug and play with EA, so I am surprised that it is not there with Audi yet. I have noticed that I only get over 200kw charge speed when I am around 10% or less. Anything more and it is typically 100 to 150. Also, I have noticed that on one EA charger I will get for example 150 but if I bump over to another one, it will be higher or vice versa. It is very inconsistent. I will say though..even though you lost the race, I can guarantee your Audi was much more quiet on the road and a much smoother ride. ;-)

I have a Mustang Mach-e and it's Plug & Charge with Electrify America. I can't believe VW, who owns both EA and Audi, doesn't have Plug & Charge.

I believe when you are not using the Audi Nav the car does not know when you are going to arrive at the charger, so it does not properly preheat the battery to get the fastest possible charging speeds

Yeah some Tesla Superchargers can be broken, but they generally work. Electrify America there is no guarantee, it feels like it in an Alpha build

22:30 as a Tesla owner we are pushing hard to get TSLA to keep its SuperChargers for Tesla's only. If you want to use the superior chargers, buy a Tesla. I do not want to be waiting in the queue behind substandard BEV's with confused operators futzing with a substandard BEV app trying to use a top of the line charger
