VIDEO DESCRIPTION:

Jim is a self-employed contractor that left his recent home of 25 years and built a DIY tiny house in 2 months! His 8 1/2 X 20' cargo trailer is super stealthy and serves as his home and traveling workspace. The garage situated in the back has enough tools to build an entire house! The interior is wide open and clean, with five different types of wood making up the gorgeous natural tones.

He likes his space without clutter, so there are plenty of hidden storage compartments and enough room to store the rest. His cabinets are designed with African Soprano that he's held onto for 15 years, just waiting for the perfect spot to put it! The awesome murphy bed is equipped with an ATV wench that lowers by remote control and completely disappears when fully put away. This DIY build is a fun, spacious, and simple bachelor pad that otherwise looks like a typical trailer going down the road.

That is a man going his own way, living on his own term, and living his best life.

I’m always jealous when i see ppl with the skills to do carpenter work. His place is a blank slate for future adds and changes. Nice trailer.

We sold our home in Nov 2016 and live full-time in an rv. We have our own business in forestry so we travel with the contracts. We have never looked back and regretted nothing! Love this life and I highly recommend getting your home on wheels and GO!

You have everything! I am so impressed. Simple, but elegant. And you're not old. I'M old...73! But I wish I were younger...I would attempt to live the life you're living now. I'm a loner, friends mostly online, so living in a smaller space wouldn't bother me. I am housebound, having had an accident in 2003 that has me using 2 canes or a walker and I live in pain. I read, do things actively on my laptop, phone, and sew and other various crafts. You are a very special person and I am so happy for you! God bless and keep you! Sending you love & hugs, Diana

what a great example of a person who is talented, self-sufficient, and incredibly MOTIVATED! if one is observant watching this video, you can pretty much determine the "character" of this guy - he is "good people" - which is what me and my fellow West Virginians use to call some folks from the South and mid-west who after 5 minutes of talking to them, you feel like you would enjoy having a beer with them. "regular folks" from the South and mid-west will know what i mean by "good people."

"You know, simple cause I like it simple".... Yet he builds custom cabinets with veneers of African Zebrano and makes a more functional kitchen than my apartment? America needs more craftsman like this guy!

I’m a crane operator and pen turner. I work in the road often, and get tired of bouncing from AirBnb’s and hotel rooms, so I decided to do the same thing.

I do plan on making the bathroom sink, toilet, shower the in the V of the trailer, air conditioner on top, folding up twin bed/futon couch top/storage underneath; counter/fridge bar stool across from it.

I want to turn the back part into my wood shop with desk.

This is one of the nicest conversions I have seen on YouTube, both the way you laid it out, and the craftsmanship. Well done!

huge **HUGE** thumbs up.
p.s. I van tour (class B+) ~7 months of the year and almost never use my shower, and rarely use the toilet. Granted: during the (stupid over reaction) CoV lock-downs my toilet came in super handy, but dump stations were harder to find for the same reason.

Adding a shower in the garage is a great idea. If you build some storage shelves for all your tools you will have plenty of space. This is inspiring!

Thanks for the encouraging words to us young'ins. I turn 30 this year and have to been trying to get into the trades and have a career and make more money. I want to live like this so bad and not have to pay absurd rent anymore.

I love it when a real carpenter does a build like you did here. My bet is that you put it together to stay put. And the clean style lines work so well with the wood grain. The beauty is in the simplicity.

I lived 3 years full time in a 86 GMC Skoolie, and i agree with him; my only regret was all the years i paid rent.

Looks great, I love the garage as a tool room. Set up some attachments at the back of the trailer at the roof and sides and use tarps and a few pipes to have a covered/walled work area in back for when the weather is pissing all over…. Also, had you chosen the 24 foot trailer you could have put the bathroom in the last three or four feet before the garage.

Something to think about for people doing this, go out in the back yard with a bunch of tent stakes, twine, and a tape measure to figure out where everything will go in it before even buying the trailer/truck/bus/van. Measure it all out set up your design, and THEN buy the trailer/vehicle that will fit your needs…. If you already have the trailer/vehicle you will be using, make floor cutouts of cardboard to show where everything will be before starting the build to try and find issues before you have built the problem….

I love this bed!!! It is better than any sofa to watch TV with friend/s or family, because it is so comfy. When I watch a film I don't like to sit, it is so comfy to lie on a big bed like this.
